Zootopia

It’s a world without people. It’s a world where animals wear clothes. It’s a world where predator and prey have evolved and get along. It’s a Disney movie where [Spoiler Alert] the mom and dad don’t die.

Talking about breaking the mold.

It’s the world of Zootopia. Or more precisely the bustling city of Zootopia. A sprawling Metropolis of sixteen different bio-zones where animals come to make their dreams come true, including Judy Hopps, the first bunny member of the Zootopia Police Department. What she finds is that reality is not quite as rosy as she thought it would be. To make her way and gain acceptance she has to team with a sly fox to crack an alarming string of disappearances in Zootopia.

Ok, so if you’re still reading after the spoiler alert above, in breaking with a Long Disney Tradition, No One Dies. For once, I didn’t have to explain to my daughter what happened to someone’s father or mother or big brother or uncle or nephew or anything. This alone was a welcome change. It also doesn’t hurt that the movie was fun and engaging and actually kept my daughter sitting in her seat for the whole thing. That never happens. I mean, even during Frozen she still had to get up 15 times to try and sing along. I will warn that there are a couple mildly scary parts, but nothing very traumatic. My daughter actually wants to go see it again. And I for one, can’t wait to go see it again myself.

In other words … GRAB THE KEYS AND HEAD TO THE THEATER NOW!

The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Zootopia,” a comedy-adventure directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,” “Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”) and co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”), opens in theaters on March 4, 2016.

My nephew's got to go see this movie and they loved it! I hope to take my kids to go see it soon. It is all I've heard about since it came out.
