The Christmas season is almost upon us.
Already? Halloween isn’t even here yet.
Yep. Already.
And you know who’s stoked? ME!!
I love Halloween, but the two months between Halloween and New Year are my favorite time of the year. Followed immediately by the two months leading up to Halloween. But the Holidays are when I shine. Activities and trips and lights and crafts and time spent with my family and cooking and baking. With a little shopping thrown in there somewhere as well.
But you know what my favorite part is? Cooking and baking. Did I mention that already? Those two activities are what makes the holidays for me. I love spending time in my kitchen just coming up with every yummy thing there is to eat. Scouring cookbooks for cookie recipes. Going through a 25 pound bag of flour and a 25 pound bag of sugar. Watching the sticks of butter disappear one by one from the refrigerator (because I bake with them, not because I eat them). And sprinkles on EVERYTHING.
But when you spend all that time in the kitchen, it should be a kitchen you love. And part of that means that you must have appliances that are functional as well as beautiful. If a cabinet is blocking you from opening your refrigerator door all the way to open a drawer or you have to spend hours waiting to bake everything, then that just throws a pall over everything.

The first is the LG 6.9 Cubic foot Double Oven Gas Range. Now, do I have this oven? No, I wish I did, but I have an electric oven. But guess what? My Mom does. And it is an awesome oven. First, I can’t even begin to describe how much I love double ovens. A double oven has been one of my secret desires ever since I was young, but unlike the behemoths of the olden days (aka the 70’s) this double oven fits in the same space as a standard oven. Having a double oven is literally a life changer. Turkey in the bottom, and everything else rotating in and out of the top. Chocolate chip cookies in the bottom, sugar cookies in the top. The choices are endless. And they heat up so much faster that you will immediately notice the difference. And with convection cooking things cook so much faster (just keep an eye on recipe cook times).
The other one I love is the LG InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerator. Do I have this refrigerator? Again no, but I’m gonna. This is on my list this year since we need a new refrigerator. Now I don’t know about you, but when I’m baking for the holidays there are three things I constantly need: milk, eggs, and butter. Well, flour, sugar and vanilla too, but I meant in the fridge. So with the LG InstaView door I can keep the things I need right there within easy reach, but also easy to know how much I have and when I need to reload. When I’m not actively baking I can keep all the day-to-day quick access things like milk and juice and bloody mary mix right at hand. Umm, I mean cheese, not bloody mary mix.
