Can you believe that we are at the end of March? I feel like the year is flying by and at every turn I’m experiencing major changes. Unfortunately, not all of those changes have been positive as they involve my health. One landed me in the Emergency Room and another resulted in surgery. After having surgery and experiencing a lot of pain and a difficult recovery, I started thinking about my health, my everyday practices, and realized that I need to make some changes myself. I’m working on small baby steps!
It’s time to take control back and ensure that I provide a positive example and introduce my daughter to a healthy lifestyle that she will carry through her childhood and hopefully adult years.
First, I looked at my diet. My family eats fairly healthy but processed foods do play a role in a number of meals that we eat throughout the week. I set a goal to remove three processed items a week and replace them with homemade side dishes. This may seem like a small goal but it’s a place to start and by making the goal obtainable and sustainable, that hopefully will ensure success.
Second, I still have a few health restrictions and have to be careful when it comes to lifting and being pulled but where we are currently living has a lovely walking trail area that is pet friendly. As soon as I received my doctor’s release, I promised myself that I would start walking my pups at least 15 minutes every other day to create a routine. Again, this may seem small but I’m keeping those goals within my grasp. The pups seem to be happy with our new plan so it must be successful! 😉
Third, I’ve revisited my vitamin and supplement regiment. This one has been the most difficult for me. Due to ailments and other health problems, I take a number of pills every day. In my opinion, more than someone in their thirties should take, so the last thing I want to do is add another something or other to my lineup. With my physician, I have been working on evaluating my prescription medications and I’ve made a few changes to the supplements that I take. For now, I eliminated a supplement that was “eh” and replaced it with . Thanks to a vitamin deficiency I am hoping that this is HUGE for me!
By taking one (or two) soft gels a day, I’m working to improve my brain health AND positive mood. Ever thought you suffered from “mommy brain”? Ever had a difficult time remembering things? Let DHA Brain Health help! Did you know that a healthy mood helps aid in proper digestion? I didn’t but it makes sense. vivaNUTRITION® DHA Brain Health comes from sustainable farmed algae and not fish which means it is a purer, unadulterated, and uncontaminated source. It also contains no synthetic colors, preservatives, gluten, dairy, yeast or wheat, and is non-GMO.

I wouldn’t want to miss the chance to say something about ! I’ve taken to snacking on them and they are delicious. Luckily, I pack my daughter’s lunch so she can’t tell that I sneak them randomly through the day, and I know that they are especially made for kids but they’re yummy and I can’t help it! The Raspberry & Red Beet Flavor are my favorite but the Blueberry & Carrot Flavor is a very close second. They are available at as well so be sure to grab a box or three before checking out!
Just think, 100% natural goodness, moisture texture, healthy, protein-rich Chia grains, and no added sugars, non-GMO, no gluten, dairy, synthetic colors or flavors! Your kids will love them… trust me!
So what have I done for my daughter? In addition to adding Super Fiber Chia Bars to her lunch every day, I also recently introduced her to Probiotics. Did you know that Probiotics support the ideal balance between children’s good bacteria and otherwise non-beneficial bacteria that resides in the GI Tract?
vivaNUTRITION® has chosen one of the most widely studied probiotic strains, BB-12, which is shown in multiple clinical studies to alleviate occasional digestive distress while supporting a child’s natural defenses. It contains NO synthetic colors, flavors, preservatives, gluten, yeast or wheat, and is non-GMO. I simply add to my daughter’s morning drink, mix, and go … she doesn’t even notice that it is there!
So you see, by taking a few small baby steps, I am able to make positive change in my life and hopefully in my daughter’s life as well. Be sure to check out vivaNUTRITION® and all they have to offer over at and then enter for the chance to win a prize package below!
