It’s been a whirlwind of a summer and it’s only the beginning of July! We’ve been keeping my little one entertained with summer fun, my mom sold her house, found a new one and we moved her, and the travel… oh my goodness, THE TRAVEL!
The travel started two weeks ago when I flew to Los Angeles for The BFG Red Carpet Premiere with Disney. I hope you didn’t miss any of my posts but if you did, now is a good time to recap! While in LA for #TheBFGEvent I had the privilege of screening the film, walking the red carpet with Hollywood celebrities, and interviewing talent from the film including Director Steven Spielberg and Ruby Barnhill, Mark Rylance and Jemaine Clement, and Penelope Wilton and Rebecca Hall. The entire event was mind blowing and I can’t believe that I was actually in the same room with and spoke to Steven Spielberg. It’s a memory that I will hold near and dear to my heart for years to come.
After arriving home and recovering from jet lag it was time to buckle down and get back to work before the arrival of the holiday weekend. This past weekend I took a timeout from social media, for the most part, and focused on spending time with my family! We enjoyed nights of grilling out, S’mores, and Sparklers. We visited our favorite restaurant and enjoyed an evening of fondue (Yes, fondue is still a thing in Cincinnati!). We even took in a movie and I introduced my family to The BFG! Last night as I gazed upon my family all I could think about is how good life is. My husband was dozing on the couch, my little one was snuggled up with one of our pups, and the other was fast asleep at her feet. All I could think about is lucky I am.
Now, the holiday is over, the hustle and bustle is back in full force, and I am preparing for my next adventure as I head back to Los Angeles on Thursday.
YES! I said I am heading back to Los Angeles on Thursday for not one but TWO Press Events and I can’t wait to share the journey with you!
I fly out of Cincinnati early on Thursday morning and will land just in time to hit the ground running for the start of my two day extravaganza. It all starts with a private screening of Kubo.
Kubo and the Two Strings is an epic action-adventure set in a fantastical Japan from acclaimed animation studio LAIKA. Clever, kindhearted Kubo (voiced by Art Parkinson of “Game of Thrones”) ekes out a humble living, telling stories to the people of his seaside town including Hosato (George Takei), Akihiro (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa), and Kameyo (Academy Award® nominee Brenda Vaccaro). But his relatively quiet existence is shattered when he accidentally summons a spirit from his past which storms down from the heavens to enforce an age-old vendetta. Now on the run, Kubo joins forces with Monkey (Academy Award® winner Charlize Theron) and Beetle (Academy Award® winner Matthew McConaughey), and sets out on a thrilling quest to save his family and solve the mystery of his fallen father, the greatest samurai warrior the world has ever known. With the help of his shamisen – a magical musical instrument – Kubo must battle gods and monsters, including the vengeful Moon King (Academy Award® nominee Ralph Fiennes) and the evil twin Sisters (Academy Award® nominee Rooney Mara), to unlock the secret of his legacy, reunite his family, and fulfill his heroic destiny.
After the screening we hope to have some time to take in the sights of the city before heading to a Cocktail Party and Screening of Bad Moms!
In this new comedy from the writers of The Hangover, Amy has a seemingly perfect life – a great marriage, over-achieving kids, beautiful home and a career. However she’s over-worked, over-committed and exhausted to the point that she’s about to snap. Fed up, she joins forces with two other over-stressed moms on a quest to liberate themselves from conventional responsibilities – going on a wild, un-mom-like binge of long overdue freedom, fun and self-indulgence – putting them on a collision course with PTA Queen Bee Gwendolyn and her clique of devoted perfect moms.
By this time I’ll likely start to remember that I live in Cincinnati and the time change will start to catch up with me. I hope to see the Hollywood lights at night but it is likely that I will head back to my hotel to relax a bit before heading to bed.
Friday is the BIG DAY … the day we get to meet and interview talent from the films. First thing Friday morning we will take part in the Kubo and the Two Strings Press Day!
