La la lalalala la lala la la, la la lalalala la lala la la.
Doesn’t have quite the same effect without the music does it? However if you grew up watching them, Like I did, you probably recognize the tune (the title of the article probably helps some too). Little did I know that the Smurfs have been around since 1959, first in comics, then on TV (the series I grew up on) and now in a full-fledged movie. This movie is finally what I have been longing for since I was a kid. It is all Smurfs all the time.
Smurfette is having an identity crisis. When she can’t determine her purpose like all the other Smurfs; Hefty, brainy and Clumsy take her Smurfboarding. In the process, Smurfette sees an unknown Smurf who disappears through a hole in the wall to the forbidden forest. When Gargamel captures them and finds out there is a whole new village of Smurfs for him to capture, the race is on to find the lost village of Smurfs in the Forbidden Forest before Gargamel can find them and steal their essence. But no one can prepare the Smurfs for the surprises and dangers that await them, especially the biggest surprise of all that awaits them when they reach their destination.
I laughed, I cried, this movie took me back to my childhood. Oh, my kid liked it too. But seriously, if you watched the Smurfs as a child, this is the perfect way to relive your childhood for a small while. Oh and introduce your kids to the Smurfs too. Smurfs: The Lost Village is in theaters April 7th. If you have kids then you need to take them to see it.
