THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED FILM ADAPTATION OF BESTSELLING NOVEL
‘REDEEMING LOVE‘ HITS THEATERS JANUARY 21, 2022
There are movies I want to watch over and over because I love them so much. There are movies I watch once and never again, because I hate them so much. There are movies I don’t get all the way through and get up and walk out of the theater. Well, I used to do that, when I used to go to theaters. Then there are movies that I watch once, I love them. They affect me in a profound way. But I will never watch them again. I’m not going to say which category Redeeming Love fits into exactly, maybe because it doesn’t fit one category.
Redeeming Love is the story of Angel. Sold into prostitution as a child, she has grown up under the harshest conditions and managed to survive. When Michael Hosea comes in to her life, she may have a chance to escape the life she was forced to accept and live a better life. If she is willing to believe she is worth it.
My Take
Redeeming Love is not an easy movie for me to watch. Not because it isn’t a good movie, it is. It just depicts a lot of things that are hard for me as a mom to accept. It is a good movie. Angel’s life is hard. And she is forced to accept it because she feels she has no other options. And that offends me as a mom. I know it’s the old west. I know it’s fiction. I want to go kick a whole lot of people in the shins.
This movie is rated pg-13, and that rating is earned. There are a lot of mature themes that I don’t want to have to explain to my 12-year-old until she’s in her 20’s.
If you can handle the mature subject matter, go see Redeeming Love. It is worth seeing.
