I have a thing for refrigerators. I don’t mean that in a weird way. Let’s face it, the refrigerator is probably the most used appliance in your house. Even if you don’t cook, you use it. You’re in it multiple times a day, every day, it’s the biggest appliance in your house.
So, when I say I have a thing for refrigerators I mean that I want it to be perfect. I don’t want the old olive green thing I grew up with. I want it to be shiny and sleek and fit in and be perfect. With all the bells and whistles I want but in a way that doesn’t annoy me (I’m looking at you ice maker that takes up half the freaking fridge space, you know who you are). One of the things I love about LG is that they actually seem to have the sense to make appliances the way people need them to be (hey, we just bought an LG washer and dryer from Best Buy)
So it is with great envy that I look upon the LG Instaview Refrigerator. This is my dream refrigerator. Don’t laugh, you have a dream refrigerator too, you just won’t admit it. Let’s look at why this would be an incredible addition to your home (or mine).
Let’s start with the coolest feature. The door-in-door instaview window. Avoid using your refrigerator to cool your kitchen just because junior is looking for a snack. Just tap twice and the dark window lights up to let you see what’s inside. This is also handy because it doesn’t default to letting every guest just see what the inside of your fridge looks like. Plus that instaview door opens up so you can then get at the item junior wants, without opening the full fridge door and letting all the cold air out.
So that’s the cool feature, but what are the other features that make this refrigerator a no-brainer?
How about an extra-tall ice-make/water dispenser that lets you get tall glasses and pitchers in it? Seriously, how annoying is it that you have to tilt a pitcher to the spilling point to fill it. Not with this bad boy.
Or how about that ice-maker? I have a French door refrigerator now made by…someone else. You know what you end up with? The shelves on the door are so small and short (and there’s this weird “overhang”) that they are barely usable. The ice-make itself takes up a very large portion of the refrigerator space and because of the ice-maker you cannot adjust the top shelf at all. I seriously want to know what genius designed it. The LG is not like that at all. The ice-make is completely in the door. So the door shelves are skinnier, but still actually usable. And you can actually fit a ketchup bottle in it. That really is genius (I mean that in the non-sarcastic sense). Like I want to find the person that designed this fridge for real people and give them a kiss.
I could probably go on and on about why I want this fridge. So I will. How about fingerprint resistance? Or energy efficiency? Or a variety of capacities that fit your kitchen? How about a freezer with multiple usable drawers?
Suffice it to say, while I don’t have one yet, I will be getting one very soon. Check it out today at Best Buy
Disclaimer: The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. But no, they didn’t give me a refrigerator for free, I will be buying that on my own. And yes, I am going to buy one.
