Did you hear? LEGO® STAR WARS: Droid Tales is now available on DVD!
The hubby is an unabashed Star Wars fan, and that is putting it kindly. He watched all the movies. He read all of the books (even the ones that came out around the time of the original movies). He collected the toys as a kid…and still does (yeah, our basement is full of Star Wars Legos). So needless to say, anytime there is something new for Star Wars, we are buying it or watching it.
And so it came to pass that we received a copy of Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales. The first thing I have to say is that the hubby sat through this whole DVD, laughing the whole time. He loves Star Wars, but he also admits that there are some…inconsistencies among the movies. Droid Tales has a fun time pointing out some of those inconsistencies. So what is Droid Tales?
As anyone who has seen the original trilogy knows, C-3P0 has a knack for storytelling. As anyone who has seen Revenge of the Sith knows, C-3P0 had his memory wiped. Now, the day after the end of Return of the Jedi, everyone is recovering from the big party. As C-3P0 and R2-D2 are cleaning up C-3P0 laments his lost memory, which R2-D2 conveniently has on a flash drive. With his memory restored, C-3P0 starts telling the story of the rise and fall of the Galactic Empire as told over the course of the original six movies. The only problem is that R2-D2 gets kidnapped while the story is being told, so C-3P0 must go chasing after his little buddy, traipsing across the galaxy to rescue him. Over the course of the five episodes, C-3P0 retells the original six movies to whomever happens to be available to listen. The end result is an entertaining, sometimes downright hilarious take on the Star Wars universe.
