SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY is NOW PLAYING and theaters and on HBO Max!

To celebrate today’s release of SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY in theaters and available on HBO Max, we want to share some fun games and activities along with an EXCLUSIVE Interview with Sonequa Martin-Green. Sonequa plays Kamiyah James, the onscreen wife of LeBron James in the film. During our interview, we discussed the differences between the new movie and the original, the importance the role of FAMILY plays in the new movie, and a more.

While Space Jam: A New Legacy pulls some pages from the playbook of the 1996 original film, starring Michael Jordan, Sonequa shared with us how this film is different and deeper. Check out the details below!

I had so much fun interviewing Sonequa. She was extremely friendly, easy to talk to, and someone that I could easily see becoming a good friend. Looking for someone new to have drinks with and discuss life and kids? Sonequa is the perfect addition to Girl’s Night Out! Below is a short excerpt of the full interview (hint: it’s the question I got to ask)

Heather: Hello, Hello! I’ve always wondered, what is the most difficult part of filming a movie that splits between animation and live action?

Sonequa: Great question. I think the most difficult part is just rounding out the world for yourself, in your mind's eye. You have to employ your imagination to such a degree that it really does take mental fortitude. It does because, you almost have to imagine this world and it has to be so specific that it's so real to you. That you can taste it, touch it, smell it, all those things in your mind so that you can fully and authentically interact with it.

It’s almost like you have to keep it alive for yourself. It takes a lot of focus and a lot of intensity and concentration. I think for those kinds of worlds, which I am familiar with in acting, it’s like, “Alright Imagination, let’s go!” You gotta keep yourself sharp and keep yourself focused.

A huge THANK YOU to Warner Bros. for inviting us to be a part of the Space Jam: A New Legacy fun and allowing us to be a part of the interview with Sonequa Martin-Green!

ABOUT SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY

Welcome to the Jam! Basketball champion and global icon LeBron James goes on an epic adventure alongside timeless Tune Bugs Bunny with the animated/live-action event “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” from director Malcolm D. Lee and an innovative filmmaking team including Ryan Coogler and Maverick Carter. This transformational journey is a manic mashup of two worlds that reveals just how far some parents will go to connect with their kids. It’s Tunes versus Goons in the highest-stakes challenge of his life, that will redefine LeBron’s bond with his son and shine a light on the power of being yourself.
