When I think of Christmas I think of family photos. There’s the pre-season Christmas card photo. Documenting the Christmas tree selection and decoration. Putting up the train sets around the tree. Some candid photos of the wrapping. The weird picture of Uncle Ted drunk on Christmas Eve. Christmas day opening all the presents. Pictures of the inevitable scene of mass chaos and destruction as all the torn wrapping paper is strewn all over the place. Going outside to play in the snow while mom is screaming at the top of her lungs that we need to get ready to go to grandma’s house. Fighting in the car on the way to grandma’s house. The wails of disappointment as you see the small pile of presents under grandma’s tree. More weird pictures of Uncle Ted drunk on Christmas day. The inappropriate pictures of Uncle Ted trying to kiss Aunt Sue. Cousin Eddie’s dog drinking all the water from the tree. Oh wait, that was “Christmas Vacation.” Sorry, fact and fiction have sort of combined into this surreal weirdness at my family Christmas over the years.

Regardless, all of these wonderful memories would not be possible if someone didn’t have a camera available to capture them. Hey, great review! I recently had to choose the best camera for under $1,000. I ended up choosing between the Sony A6000 and the Nikon D5300 (DSLR): The A6000 rocks especially if you wanna shoot in motion. For me, I ended up choosing the Nikon D5300 for 3 REASONS: – Way more lenses to choose from with Nikon than with Sony – 40% better battery life than the A6000 – A proper external mic jack (so important if you wanna shoot quality video…) Hope this helps…
