So yeah, I’ve seen every Star Wars movie. More than once. A lot more than once. I can’t even begin to count the number of times I’ve seen each one. And I’m probably not alone when I say that The Empire Strikes Back was the best one. It’s not that it’s depressing, it’s just a little more realistic. Here you have a small band of rebels up against “The Man” with infinite resources and zero morals. You just know there are going to be some setbacks.

But it’s entirely possible that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, may have just beaten Empire out as the best Star Wars movie to date. I’m not positive about that, I’m still deciding. I may have to go back and re-watch the original trilogy to make sure.
In case you were not aware, Rogue One is the story of how the rebels managed to get a hold of the Death Star plans. This is the story that leads directly into the very first Star Wars (now known as A New Hope). So why do I think that it may be the best Star Wars movie to date. No, it’s not the cameos, of which there are plenty. It’s the story and the characters. It’s a story of hope.
The Death Star is in the final phases of construction. It’s just about ready to be unleashed. The rebellion is tipped off to its existence and a race ensues to get the plans to the battle station and find a weakness. And we all know there is a weakness.

I have to admit that the movie gets off to a somewhat slow start, but that does not last. Once it gets going it is a non-stop whirlwind of excitement that ends with obtaining the plans and delivering them to Princess Leia, although not without a cost.
Now there are a couple cameos that are made via CGI. You kind of have to look past them. But overall, Rogue One tells a very good story that will leave you wanting more. Go see it today or tomorrow or soon. It’s worth it.
