One of the most useful and surprisingly versatile kitchen gadgets is the noble strainer. I know you are now thinking “has she gone nuts?” But seriously, what do you do with your knife? You cut things. Can opener? Open cans. Toaster? Toast things. What can you do with a strainer? You can strain broth (that’s soup for those of you that don’t know; just without any meat or veggies or noodles). A strainer allows you to strain the lumps out of your gravy (assuming you like gravy). I don’t recommend straining the lumps out of your mashed potatoes however. I mean you can do it, but you need to have forearms like Popeye in order to get anything.
This strainer is perfect for everyday use and has replaced the humongous strainer we received when we got married. Since when does a family of three need a strainer big enough to strain for fifty? Anyway ….
