This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of RAGÚ® Homestyle Pasta Sauce. All opinions are entirely my own.
The Big Game is always a big day for my family. Not only do we get to see the best commercials of the year, there also happens to be a football game squeezed in there somewhere. It also happens to be when we celebrate my birthday. So a huge turnout is always guaranteed, and they expect food. And plenty of it.
So needless to say we are always on the lookout for easy, tasty treats and snacks to appease the hungry hordes that descend upon our house. Ok, so we don’t really know hordes of people. It’s just my family, but it feels like hordes when they are sitting there complaining about how hungry they are (we all have those family members right? It’s not just me, right?)
So one of the mainstays of our big game celebration (created the year I was out of town, of course) are our egg rolls. Now these aren’t your ordinary egg rolls. These are pepperoni pizza egg rolls. I know.
Mind. Blown.
This is a great way to re-purpose some stuff in a different way. For instance, RAGÚ® Homestyle Pasta Sauce isn’t just for pasta. Did you know that? You can use it for things OTHER than pasta and you won’t go to jail. It’s a radical concept I know. They have four varieties: RAGÚ Homestyle Traditional Pasta Sauce, RAGÚ Homestyle Cheese Pasta Sauce, RAGÚ Homestyle Meat Pasta Sauce and RAGÚ Roasted Garlic Sauce and I have to admit that I love the Roasted Garlic. With farm grown ingredients and no artificial ingredients, these sauces are as close to homemade as I’ve ever had.
RAGÚ Homestyle uses farm grown ingredients, vine ripened tomatoes and fragrant herbs to create a robust texture and incredible flavor. There are no artificial flavors or high-fructose corn syrup. : RAGÚ Homestyle lets you actually see, smell and savor their longstanding tradition of fresh tastes. And best of all, you can head over to Kroger to download a coupon for $0.75 off any one RAGÚ Homestyle Pasta Sauce.
These eggrolls are so incredibly simple and easy to make but taste so good.
You will need:
Egg roll wrappers (find them in the refrigerated section of your nearest Kroger)
RAGÚ Homestyle Roasted Garlic Sauce
What to do:
Something to fry stuff with. This year we got to use our new Air Fryer, but in years past we used a traditional deep fryer or just a pan filled with oil on the stove. According to the egg roll wrappers they can also be baked. So use whichever method you would like.
So lay out an egg roll wrapper. In the correct place (don’t worry, there is usually a diagram), lay down four pepperoni (overlapping).
Spread a spoonful of RAGÚ sauce over the pepperoni, just a spoonful, trust me.
Put the mozzarella cheese stick on top of the sauce and roll up the egg roll. Make sure you wet your finger and run it around all the edges of the wrapper so that it will actually seal up. This is important.
Put it in your fryer (of choice) and fry it up until it is golden brown on the outside. Serve with a side of RAGÚ Homestyle Roasted Garlic Sauce for dipping.

Now again, I have to admit that this year required some experimentation. I already mentioned that we tried to make these in our air fryer. The thing about the air fryer is that you can’t see what is going on in the frying basket. In olden times when we used an actual deep fryer, I could watch these cook and pluck them out at the precise right moment. With the air fryer we started with the recommended cooking time and temperature for spring rolls (400 degrees for 15 minutes).
Talk about a Cheese Explosion. On a side note, fried mozzarella by itself is pretty tasty. So the second time I lowered the temperature to 370 and cut the cooking time in half. This resulted in a slightly smaller cheese explosion. Third time’s the charm? In this case, yes. I left it at 370 and cooked them for about 5 minutes and they just started to ooze when I took them out (that’s a very technical cooking term by the way). This is all a very roundabout way of saying “cooking times may vary” depending on how you cook them. Experiment. It’s fun. And if nothing else, you’ll have a great story to go with some tasty treats on game day.
