Yargis Review #Yargis

by Heather

I’ll be honest. I’m not a gamer. A good game of solitaire is all I need.

Gaming is the hubby’s realm. Call of Warcraft. Or World of Duty. Madden 2113. I don’t know. I try not to pay attention. Usually when the hubby gets a new game I can count on him holing up in his study for a day or two. When he comes out again he usually needs a shower.

And so it went with Yargis. The hubby went in to his study and came out about a day later. So what is Yargis? I had to ask. According to the hubby, Yargis is a physics based space shooter game. I had to ask the hubby what that meant. According to the hubby, it means that when you fire up the engine, you keep going in that direction until you run into something or fire up the engine and go in a different direction. I didn’t really understand that, so he showed me. Think Asteroids. Remember that game. It’s like that only WAY cooler. Instead of black and white line drawings it has really awesome graphics. Instead of “beep” and “boop” and “boom” it has realistic and cool sound effects. You can also customize your ship and create your own levels. Pretty much everything about it is better. Which is kind of to be expected since Asteroids is like 30 years old. So pretty much its nothing like asteroids I guess.

A fast paced spaceship shooter game from the top view! Yargis is a pilot for the Earth military in the year 3013. Despite having explored far beyond Pluto and Alpha Centauri, no contact with alien life has been made. Until now. An unknown species only known as the Mukka are attacking Earth and its inhabitants. It is up to Yargis to defend Earth and help uncover their fiendish plot while trying not to get blown to smithereens.
