It’s hard to believe that 2015 is already here, but it seems like this year could be the biggest year yet for gamers. Do you have a gamer in your home? For us, it is my husband. I feel like this is all I hear about during his “free talk” conversations. You know, when we aren’t talking about our daughter, our day, bills, etc… So today, we’re going to take a look at what are expected to be the most significant gaming trends in the year ahead.
WEARABLE TECHNOLOGY
One of the biggest changes that we’ll see will be the emergence of wearable gaming technology. With Apple’s announcement of the Apple Watch in early 2015, many are seeing this as a watershed moment in how we interact with games.
And seeing how quickly the Wii entertainment system became naturalized in our homes, it’s going to be very interesting to watch how this wearable technology will supplement our gaming choices.

It’s one of those things that is forever coming in and out of fashion, but 2015 looks like it will see some big-hitters in the gaming world adapting to the trend for fantasy-themed gaming.
With some of the biggest forthcoming titles like the formidable Final Fantasy and Legend of Zelda series returning to our screens, it seems that fantasy is well and truly back. There will also be some hot new titles like Below for Xbox and Windows, as well as great online games like Casino Saga Fans that all seem to inhabit weird and wonderful worlds!
MOBILE VS CONSOLE

2015 looks to be the year that game play will decisively switch from using consoles to mobile technology, due to the fact that the most downloaded apps are gaming apps.
This will inevitably result in games being targeted away from the traditional gaming fan base – young males – towards a broader audience who are gradually becoming exposed to the technology that offers them gaming in the palm of their hand.

Another trend that will be magnified in 2015 is the synergy between different media outlets that seek to capitalize on the huge new revenues offered by gaming.
So 2015’s biggest film blockbusters such as Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, will also be shifting their marketing weight behind a range of cross-platform games such as Star Wars: Battlefront.

Finally, it seems that the future is well and truly upon us with the rise of Oculus Rift. The hyper-real, low-latency headsets have recently received a massive boost through their $2 billion purchase by Facebook. And with the release of some very exciting beta games demos on their website, it seems that the next chapter of gaming has surely just begun!
