Top 5 Learning Apps For The Restless Toddler

by Jenn

Saying that it is difficult to keep your toddlers attention might be an understatement. If you are looking for a creative way to teach your toddler essential skills at such a crucial time in their development, consider the benefits of downloading children’s learning apps for your tablet. Children seem to be the most restless when you are trying to teach them. It is amazing how quickly a smartphone or a tablet can capture their attention and make them sit still. Here are 5 of the top learning apps that will hold your restless toddler’s attention and teach in the process.

Baby Games My First Shapes

If you are looking for a low-pressure app for your toddler to practice their shapes, this application may be perfect. The application is easy to use and can be customized by parents to play any sound when shapes or pictures are shown. Designed for children age 2 to 3, kids can learn shapes, animals, and the names of everyday objects.

Jellytoons Toddler Skills: Bobo’s Birthday Challenge

This fun and interactive game is perfect for toddlers just developing their fine motor skills. The game is bright and is sure to keep the attention of your little ones as it is set around a birthday party theme. Not only will your child learn how to match shapes and colors, they will also work on their logic in short spurts which is perfect for a toddler’s short attention span.

I Love You Through and Through

If you want to spend bonding time with your preschooler while they learn, this application is an interactive storybook that allow kids to interact with each of the pages. Show your little ones how much you love them and read the book together or play with the story’s characters.

Peekaboo Barn

If you want to teach your little one animal names and sounds, Peekaboo Barn is a great app. Not only can you have your child identify animals, you can also focus on the proper pronunciation, spelling, and even the animal names in other languages like Spanish.

Kids Song Machine 2 Around the World

If you want to visually stimulate your restless toddler, this application will do it the best. The engaging scenery from around the world, combined with the songs sung in an English accent, will capture your child’s attention and give them a music lesson at the same time.

Applications are no longer just for adults. Download programs that will work for your toddler and you might find that it is easier to get them to focus on learning.

Thanks for sharing these! I have quite a few apps on my phone for my toddler and am always looking for more - she actually swipes it from my pocket and runs with it, lol - I think she's a bit addicted!

Thanks for posting on these great apps, Jenn. I think I will check out a few of these after I get home from my shift at DISH later tonight. There’s another app that our toddler loves that’s great for our whole family. It’s called DISH Anywhere, and we use it to stream live TV or DVR recordings to our phones and tablets. Last week I was doing some errands, when my toddler started getting fussy in the back seat. I pulled her favorite episode of Dora the Explorer up on the DVR and handed her the iPad. She was happily entertained until we got home.

Great suggestions! A little interactive tablet time is definitely better than passive TV watching for keeping them occupied. :)

Modern technology has done wonders for teaching children. These are great tools that you have mentioned for two reasons, the child learns and they are having fun in doing so.

Great stuff Jenn! Now a days everything is computers. My G'sons Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Blackburn is one of San Diego's top teachers. They work on computers a lot. My G'son has shown me a few things! This kid has Innotab 2s, DSI, Leap frog, android tablet, & 3 computers in his home. He is always using educational apps & games. I haven't heard of this one he's gonna love it. I'm going to download this app on all our devices. Thanks!!
