Life with little ones is all about growth and change.
My daughter just started Kindergarten and we are learning reading, writing, math, and suddenly coloring inside the lines is extremely important. Do you have any idea how much more fun it is to color with her now? Don’t get me wrong, I have loved coloring with her the last five years but I love coloring as an adult and coloring inside the lines is crucial. Yes, I am a coloring snob! You get the idea!
The other really cool thing about this continued growth is that her attention span is expanding. I am used to watching episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Sofia the First, and Jake and the Neverland Pirates during television time but the list has been expanding. Welcome classics such as Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and Aladdin!
Now that she is able to sit through movies and actually enjoy them, we have started indulging by going to the movies. She gets her own drink, popcorn, maybe a sweet treat that mommy snuck in … What? I am totally kidding, who would do that! … and it’s a fun family outing.
The neat thing is what happens when we first arrive at the theater. Once the tickets are purchased there is one place that our little one wants to go. The concession stand, game area, or bathroom? Nope, none of the above! She wants to head straight to the coloring station where the theater provides coloring sheets to take home. There are pictures from the most recent popular films such as Inside Out and Jurassic World along with pictures of popcorn, candy, and sodas to color too. She selects one of each photo, carefully makes a stack, and brings them over to me to keep them safe until we get home. What’s really cute is when she comes across a picture where there were only a couple of copies left. She leaves it. She explains that maybe another little girl or boy will want the picture and she leaves it. This makes my heart swell with love and pride!
There is so much that I love about Disney but one of those things is that they make it easy for us to celebrate a new film from the comfort of our home thanks to their COLORING AND ACTIVITY PAGES!
