Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Complete Series

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was one of my favorite cartoons when I was growing up. I loved these little turtles that crawled into a mystery ooze and went from pet store baby turtles to teenage turtles skilled in the art of ninjutsu courtesy of Splinter, the turtles “adoptive” rat father.

I loved the mix of Donatello, Leonardo, Raphael, and Michelangelo’s personalities. They were fun-loving teenagers, obsessed with pizza, that were also these super serious crime fighting machines. Did I mention their adoptive father was a mutant rat that was a ninjutsu sensei?

If I had to pick a favorite turtle, hands down, it would be MICHELANGELO! Michelangelo or Mikey is the most carefree, laid-back, “party dude” of the group. He was naturally gifted but he also preferred to relax, hang out, and eat pizza. I think I loved that he said COWABUNGA, ate pizza like there was no tomorrow, and was a master nunchuck handler.

In addition to the masked foursome, I was also a HUGE fan of April O’Neil, Splinter, Casey Jones, Bebop, Rocksteady, and as I got older… even Shredder!

Now the hubby was more of a fan of the comics and kind of missed the original cartoon series.

Then, in 2012, Nickelodeon came out with a new modern version of the Turtles that my eldest daughter (and hubby) loved. We watched it religiously every week. Now, thanks to Nickelodeon’s release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Complete Series, all 5 seasons are available for us to show to our two littlest ones! And I can happily say they are already enthralled. Shouts of “tootles, tootles” resound throughout the house on a daily basis

BOOYAKASHA!

In celebration of the release of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Complete Series, we had a family movie night (well, we didn’t make it through the entire series but a few episodes) and celebrated with homemade pizza, to honor Donatello, Leonardo, Raphael, and Michelangelo. We skipped the shrimp and sardines but celebrated in SUPREME style! I don’t mind saying it, our pizza was absolutely gorgeous and the homemade crust was EVERYTHING!
