Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I absolutely LOVE going to the zoo. My daughter is 4, a super fun age for adventure, and loves mimicking the noises that each animal makes. I’m also very close to my family so a trip to the zoo normally means that my 4-year-old nephew and 11-year-old niece are in tow. While I love the zoo, I’m not a huge fan of the food prices that go along with a day full of exploring. Think about the last time you went to the zoo, how much did it cost you to buy a drink? How much did it cost to buy a snack? What about ice cream on a hot, hot summer day? Egad! In addition to paying the cost of admission, now we are talking some serious money just to feed your little troopers.

So now you are thinking … but Heather, you can pack a lunch and bring it in. Did you not know that? I do! We had a beautiful, beautiful day last week and decided to make our first official visit to the zoo. The explorers included my mom, my little sister (okay she is in her 20s), my daughter, my nephew, and yours truly. We had it all planned out down to the last spec. Juice pouches, fruit snacks, little bags of pretzels, little oranges, and we packed all of the accoutrements needed to create the perfect turkey wrap; including pickles on the side. Everything was packed away in our thermal bag with ice and we were good to go. Our adventure began early in the morning and we hit the picnic area around noon. The drinks were ice cold, the pretzels tasted amazing, but somehow the pickles leaked so the wraps were soggy and the turkey tasted like, yep, you guessed it … pickles. Complete epic failure? Yes, I would have to agree BUT it is one that we will not experience again.

I can guarantee this thanks to Sunsella Buddy Boxes. Over the weekend my daughter and I took daddy on a picnic to the park. We didn’t want to risk an icky lunch so we packed everything in our Buddies (that is what my little one calls them). Sunsella Buddy Boxes are bento lunch boxes. Although the product does not claim to be leak proof we did not have any problems. The Buddies, a set of 4, are made from durable plastic that are great for lunches on the go or food storage in your fridge. The boxes are microwave, freezer, and dishwasher safe. Sunsella Buddy Boxes are BPA free and meet FDA standards which is great for moms and dads. Buddies also contain cubbies that are perfectly split for portion sizes and the lids are brightly colored; they are fun and kid friendly, a major bonus for our little ones!

As the weather continues to improve most of us will increase our activities outside and away from the home. Buddies … ahem … Sunsella Buddy Boxes are a MUST HAVE for those trips to the park, the zoo, grandma’s house … any trip! They are also perfect for school lunches but we won’t go into that since summer is quickly approaching.
