In 2013 my daughter wanted a puppy more than anything in this world; she was three. After a great deal of thought and consideration, we surprised her with a puppy for Christmas. Our pup is part English Shepherd and part Labrador and his name is Felix. Currently, Felix weighs about 40 lbs, he loves to cuddle, and he is not ashamed to beg for human food.
About six months later I decided we needed another puppy to keep Felix in good company when we were not home during the day. My husband was dead set against it. Then, on Christmas morning, I woke up to a cute little pup under (kinda sorta … it’s impossible to keep a puppy in one place) the tree. The new member of our family, Oliver, is part German Shepherd and part Shar Pei. He is currently 15 lbs but he will be huge when he gets older. Oliver has completed our family, well, I wouldn’t mind having another baby BUT for now, he has completed our family.
Like every puppy, our boys have had their struggled. Anytime Felix gets mad at us, mainly for leaving him alone for too long, he likes to find something and chew it up. Oliver on the other hand, he is a complete handful. Not only does he like to chew on anything and everything; including my couch, he also has a piddle problem. In other words, he loves peeing on my floor.
These few problems that I hope they will grow out of aside, they are pretty awesome dogs and we love them. Since it is human nature give to those that we love, we like to make our pups happy and encourage them to wag their tails by giving them treats on occasion. I’m not a huge fan of giving them human food but I like to give them something that tastes good and is actually good for them. Remember, not all treats are created equal! However, there are choices.
Enter Stewart Pro-Treat Fresh Blends Dog Treats. More specifically, the Beef Fresh Blends.
Combining protein rich beef liver with sweet potato (super food) and anti-oxidant rich cranberries, Stewart has created a healthy treat that your pup(s) is certain to love! Stewart only uses the best ingredients at the peak of freshness and they never use anything artificial. Ingredients are carefully selected, blended, and freeze dried to provide the best treat possible.
Pro-Treat Freeze Dried Beef Fresh Blends contain a minimum of 28% crude protein, a minimum of 15% crude fat, a maximum of 3% crude fiber, and a maximum of 4% moisture.
Feeding Guidelines:
10 – 30 lbs: feed your pup 1 to 2 treats, 3 times per day
30 – 60 lbs: feed your pup 3 to 4 treats, 3 times per day
Over 60 lbs: feed your pup 4 to 6 treats, 3 times per day
What I love about Stewart Pro-Treat Fresh Blends Dog Treats is the ingredients. Have you ever looked at the ingredients on dog food or treats? I can be rather alarming! The Freeze Dried Beef Fresh Blends are made up of beef liver, sweet potato, chickpeas, cranberries, oatmeal, and inulin (preservative). First, I am able to pronounce every single word on this list; that is not always the case. Second, look at the ingredients, just look at them!
Stewart Pro-Treat Blends are available in Natural Beef Liver Blend, Natural Chicken Liver Blend, and Natural Pork Liver Blend. We selected the Beef for our littles guys because we thought they would enjoy the flavor profile. In all honesty, I can’t see them turning down any of the choices!
Stewart Pro-Treat Blends contain real beef liver, fruit, and vegetables. They are wheat and gluten free and contain no artificial preservatives. The treats also contain Vitamin A and B, are high in fiber, are full of Omega 3 and 6, and are antioxidant rich. Stewart Pro-Treat Blends are made in the USA with human grade ingredients.
If I had one complaint about the Stewart Pro-Treat Blends it would be the package that it comes in. To me, I find it misleading. The label states that there are up to 100 freeze dried treats in each container. That is all good and well and I’m not saying there aren’t. The problem is, it is human nature to feel as though something is missing or you “didn’t get your money’s worth” when a package isn’t full. I would recommend rethinking the packaging OR upping the number of treats per container which would ultimately up the price.
Overall, the pups love their Stewart Pro-Treat Blends. As soon as they hear me shake the container they come running, they sit immediately (pretending they are good puppies), and then run back to the couch to relish in the yummy goodness!
Four paws from our house!
