Looking for easy ways to self motivate a fitness routine? Fitness is something that is like mayonnaise, you either love it or hate it. While it might not be something you want to do, keeping fit is something that benefits both your body and mind. If you’re not doing at least twenty minutes of exercise per day, then you could ultimately be doing more harm to your body than good. Getting into the groove of things isn’t that hard thanks to our 4 easy ways to self motivate a fitness routine.
How do you motivate yourself to get into fitness when you perhaps don’t have that motivation? While it may not work for everyone, here are some tips that might help you to motivate yourself into fitness this year.
4 WAYS TO SELF MOTIVATE A FITNESS ROUTINE
Pick the right workout environment
First and foremost, the right workout environment can make a big difference in how driven you feel in working out. For example, some people might love and enjoy the environment of a gym setting, somewhere like Fitness 19 perhaps? Others will much prefer an open environment like working out in the park or in the intimacy of their own home.
Everyone is a little different, so don’t feel despondent if you don’t have the motivation to work out in a particular space. You workout where you feel the most comfortable and more importantly, where you get the most out of your workout session, however long it may be.
Don’t force yourself into a routine you can’t commit to
Just because your friend is doing four or five sessions in the gym per week, doesn’t mean you need to do the same also. Sometimes, forcing yourself into a routine that you can’t commit to is going to be counter-productive. Instead, you want to look at incorporating fitness into your current routine and building up.
Start with one or two workouts per week and then build whatever extra you want to do around your weekly routine. Try not to take on too much that it becomes too difficult to keep up.
Working out should be a form of self-care, not a chore
Working out is a form of self-care. It shouldn’t feel like a chore and for many, that can be exactly how it feels. Working out should be fun, so it’s worth looking for workouts that feel like you’re giving something to yourself. Rewarding your body and mind with exercise is a beautiful thing and something that should certainly be embraced where possible.
Find yourself a workout or sport that brings you joy
What are some of the workouts or sports that bring you joy? It’s important to find yourself something that you enjoy doing and that actually brings you a lot of passion. Once you’ve found that workout or sport, it becomes a lot more exciting as a result.
Find a gym buddy
Finally, sometimes, people need to be motivated by others and that means finding someone to work out with. If you’re able to, find a gym buddy who is going to hold you accountable for showing up for classes and other workout sessions. It’s much harder to back out of it when you have someone else relying on you.
