I’m not sure if you received the email from Referred Media, letting us know they are shutting down. Not exactly sure why they decided to close their door, but today was the last day for us to be part of the Referred Media affiliate program. It’s really sad for me, I personally loved Referred Media. I’m not huge on Affiliate programs, too many are spam, and I just don’t have time to dig around looking for a quality ad.
I’m sad to see a quality affiliate program leave so soon. I enjoyed being part of the Referred Media affiliate program. They were great, I loved their ads. Never worried about my readers being sent to some website they were going to end up getting 100 spam emails from. Their ads were legit, quality, and they were amazing to work with.
I wanted to take a moment to let Referred Media know, they will be missed! I used them all on my blogs, and looked forward to their daily emails. Maybe it’s just me, but I have a hard time finding a quality affiliate program. Yes, there’s still a few I will use, but not many. Before I post an affiliate link of any kind, I’ll visit the link myself and if I don’t like where it’s going to send my readers. Well, needless to say I won’t post it. It’s been my experience, expectantly with deals, freebies, and some coupons the link takes you to places to enter your information and then one has to jump throughout hoops to submit their information. It’s just ridiculous if you’re going to offer a freebie! OFFER IT, don’t make people fill this out, sign up for this, visit that, click here, rub their belly and pat their head, while jumping on one foot, singing I’ll Be Coming Around The Mountain.
I used to post a lot of coupons, freebies, and deals on Simply Shawn & Jenn. Since really experimenting with the ads being posted, I’ve pulled away from most of them. If I don’t want to visit the 12 websites and accept the 14 offered needed to get a free sample of baby formula, my readers probably don’t either. What a turn off, who wants to follow a website that keeps sending you to those types of places? Not me, so I refuse to have a blog that is guilty of doing just that.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s still good affiliate programs out there, with good ads. It’s just sad to see one of them go. In my opinion there’s less quality affiliate programs out there, than there is quality. Even if they have “some” quality ads, it’s not worth digging through the 15 bad ones to find the one good one. I just don’t have that kind of time, I want to get it and go.
Okay so getting a little off track, but that’s the reason I enjoyed working with Referred Media. I don’t remember getting one ad that sent me on a while goose chase to claim my freebie. Referred Media will be missed, and we wish them the best of luck on their new venture in life.
