You’re playing Ratchet and Clank. You’re running for your life. Behind you are 37 Warbots and 42 Blarg Troopers. You jump over a spiky wall. It gets 5 Warbots but they are quickly running you down, what do you do? You pull out the Sheepinator in one hand and the Cottonizer in the other and start blasting away. Pow. Pow pow. Pow pow pow! 5 Blarg Troopers have been Sheepinated. And they are proceeding to eat…Cotton Candy? That’s right; your Cottonizer has turned a bunch of random Warbots and Blarg Troopers into Cotton Candy, which the sheep are now munching on. Causing chaos among the ranks of your enemies and slowing them down while you turn the remaining enemies into Cotton Candy.
Where would you be without your Cottonizer? Well, you would right here firmly on Earth, because the Cottonizer doesn’t exist. But what if it did? What if you were given the chance to design your own gadget for Ratchet and Clank? That would be pretty cool wouldn’t it? On Saturday April 16th, 2016, a group of kids from the Downey School District got to go to Google in Venice, CA (that would be awesome just by itself for me), see the new Ratchet and Clank movie, and then got challenged with designing their own gadget. Now I don’t know if any of them came up with the Cottonizer, but having the chance to do something like that would be a wonderful way to encourage kids to work hard in science and math programs and see the possibilities they hold.

From Rainmaker Entertainment and Blockade Entertainment, Ratchet & Clank is a CG-animated movie based on the iconic PlayStation video game. Two unlikely heroes struggle to stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. Ratchet is the last of his kind, a foolhardy “lombax” who has grown up alone on a backwater planet with no family of his own. Clank is a pint-sized robot with more brains than brawn. When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colorful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy. Along the way, they will learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity.
