Quick Care Quiz + $100 Gift Card Giveaway

Let’s take a Quick Care Quiz.

Question 1. If two stores were offering the exact same item for sale, would you go to the one that was more expensive? Of course not. When you are shopping for groceries or Christmas presents or a car you would try to look for a sale or get the best deal right? Of course you would. Unless you were Bill Gates or someone else with millions or billions of dollars in disposable income. For the other 99.999% of us however, we’re not all about wasting our money. So if you get sick, would you choose to pay the most money possible to get better? Of course not. But the fact is that people do exactly that all the time. Since most people aren’t billionaires like Bill Gates, United Healthcare is here to help you out.

Most people think that there are two options for medical care: their doctor’s office or the emergency room. Nothing else. And to be honest, for the longest time, that was probably true. But we live in the modern internet age, where there are a whole host of other options (Check out all your options here).

Let’s start with…FREE. Who doesn’t like free? If you like free then you can always start with the 24 hour United Healthcare Nurse line. That’s right, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, you can call to speak with a registered nurse for free. Have a question about medication or just not sure what to do about something (something medical that is) they can answer questions or point you in the direction you need to go. Sorry, they aren’t going to give you physical directions, they aren’t Google Maps. They will tell you whether you need to go somewhere right now or give you some advice to tide you over. This is a great benefit exclusive to United Healthcare subscribers. As someone who has used the nurse line, it is hard to exaggerate how handy this is in the middle of the night.

Maybe you don’t just need some advice. You have something going on and need to talk to a doctor. Maybe there is also a blizzard or it’s 3 in the morning. United Healthcare also offers virtual visits. Just hop on your computer 24/7 and video chat with a live doctor. They can help diagnose your ailment and in some states they can even write prescriptions. Virtual visits aren’t free, but they are very inexpensive for when it’s too late or too inconvenient to leave the house. This is another great benefit for United Healthcare subscribers.

Now of course a virtual visit or nurse line isn’t going to cover every situation. If you have a true emergency like a broken leg or heavy bleeding, you should call 911 or go to the emergency room. And if you need a flu shot you should start with your primary care doctor or a convenience care clinic.

If all this seems a little confusing, don’t worry, United Healthcare has you covered. And guess what? You can win money. When was the last time you got the chance to win money for learning something you needed to know? For me the answer is…ummm, Last Month!! That’s right. I’m sure you saw our post about being a Health Plan Pro. Where we gave you all kinds of useful information about choosing what type of insurance you need and sent you on over to United Healthcare to learn and win some money. And guess what? Those contests are still going on so you can still win.

*History lesson for the whippersnappers in the crowd. In case you weren’t aware, 411 used to be a service offered via “phones” when people only had “land lines.” It may still exist, I don’t know. You could call that number and someone would help you find the address or phone number of a business. Now we just have the internet.
