810UJhT71gL._SL1500_High blood pressure. High cholesterol. Elevated triglycerides. Heart disease. These are all terms that many of us are well aware of, are well versed in, and unfortunately affected by.

No matter the age, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, etc… these are not words that any of us want to hear when visiting our doctor but when we do, it is important to take action to better our health. Every one of the conditions listed above has played a role in my life at one point in time or another. They have affected someone that I love or they represent an ailment that I have suffered with. Some of them starting as early as when I was in my early 20’s.

When I was in my 20’s, I was not well versed in vitamins and supplements. Honestly, I didn’t take any. I knew that there were things about my health that weren’t the best, I was on a few medications, and I just kept moving forward. I was 20, who needs to worry about vitamins and supplements at that age? Hmm, perhaps someone that was teeter-tottering on the line of high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

It wasn’t until my early 30’s that I took a vested interest in my health. After a number of health concerns and issues I went through a rather serious, life changing surgery and had to get more in tune with my body and that started with my heart. You see, I am still a young woman but I was overweight, had high blood pressure, was borderline in cholesterol department, and I lost my father when he was 49 years old to a massive heart attack. After doing my research, thanks to the American Heart Association, I learned that I needed to up my omega-3 fatty acids. They are essential nutrients that help in preventing and managing heart disease.

One of the easiest ways to do this is eating more fish! Did you know that the American Heart Association recommends that we eat fish (particularly fatty, cold water fish) at least twice a week? If you are anything like me, that is fine, even perfect! I love salmon and tuna. If you are anything like my husband, this is a no go. Needless to say, we have very little fish in our home and what we do have comes in a can. ;) There had to be a way to get my omega-3 fatty acids in without reinventing the wheel, hypnotizing my husband until he came to “understand” that he actually LOVES fish, or hide it in the mashed potatoes (yeah, I don’t see that one going well either).

Enter Omega-3 Fish Oil.

Omega-3 fatty acids may help lower blood pressure, reduce triglycerides, slow the development of plaque in the arteries, reduce the likelihood of heart attack and stroke, and lessen the chance of sudden cardiac death in people that suffer from heart disease. These are all perfect and extremely important for someone that has a family history, or perhaps their own history, of conditions surrounding the heart. In other words, this is must have in my world.

Anytime I am preparing to try a new product the first thing I do is head to Amazon. No, not because I know I will find information from doctors, nurses, or rocket scientists, I want to see what other people who have used the product have to say. After seeing the high number of positive reviews, Omega-3 Fish Oil Pills from Dr. Tobias seemed perfect.

81A32TW4hQL._SL1500_A serving size of Dr. Tobias Omega-3 Fish Oil is 2 (two) pills and each serving contains 800mg EPA and 600mg DHA. As someone who has suffered from GI tract problems, I like that Dr. Tobias’ Fish Oil has enteric coating. This coating can have an effect on the absorption of the nutrients within the supplement; however, absorption is already something that I have to monitor due to a past surgery so the pros of the enteric coating outweigh the cons of absorption for me. But that is all of the “science” stuff … let’s talk about what we all really wonder about. The pills themselves.

The Dr. Tobias Omega-3 Fish Oil pills are rather large; however, anyone that takes multivitamins or perhaps other prescription medications likely won’t bat an eye at the size. The pills are easy to swallow, are tasteless, and don’t result in fishy burps. Yes, the burps are important to note; especially if you have taken a supplement that has caused this in the past. ;) This supplement has not caused upset stomach which is a definite bonus as well.11106496_10153174339282370_1352681234_n

The bottom line …

Has Omega-3 Fish Oil helped me? Has it changed my health? The truthful answer is I have no idea. But, here is what I do know. As someone who has heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol (just to name a few) on one if not both sides of her family, I am going to take my Omega-3 Fish Oil. Perhaps more importantly, or at least closer to home, as someone who takes two blood pressure medications, works very hard to avoid high cholesterol, and already has a cardiologist at the age of 34, I am going to take my Omega-3 Fish Oil.

As a bonus offered by the company, after purchase of this product, you will gain access to the doctor’s website for health supporting exercises such a yoga videos, and eBooks on weight loss, healthy skin, and more. By all accounts, this is a bonus and a win for anyone looking to improve their health.
