The Godfather, Part II. The Empire Strikes Back. Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The Dark Knight.
What do all these movies have in common? Plot? Time Period? Actors? Nope. The only thing they have in common is that they are sequels that surpassed the original. The original may have set up some back story and been an incredible movie. But the sequel was just better. How do I know? Because I’ve seen them all.
And last Saturday I was able to see another movie that I think is better than the original. The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not about to compare the Nut Job 2 to the Godfather, Part II. I will leave that to film historians and the long view of history to make that determination. But as someone who is actually partial to horror films, I can definitely say that I enjoyed the movie a lot. Bonus is that I was able to take my family, since the hubby is NOT partial to horror films and my daughter is a little too young for horror films (the hubby says we have to wait until she is 9, but I worry about him sometimes). I was laughing through many parts of the film, and the addition of Mr. Fang was perfect.
In the Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature we once again catch up with Surly, Buddy and Precious as they have officially taken over the Nut Shop. Life is good. Until the Nut Shop blows up and they are forced to go back to the park and live off nature. Unfortunately, their skills are a little stale and they need a bit of a refresher with Andie’s help. Just when things are starting to look up, the mayor steps in with a dastardly plan for the park and it’s up to the animals to stop him. Will they get their park back? Is Darth Vader Luke’s Father? Who betrayed Michael Corleone? You will never know unless you take your family to see The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature.

Surly Squirrel (Will Arnett) and the gang are back. We are once again in Oakton where the evil mayor has decided to bulldoze Liberty Park and build a dangerous amusement park in its place. Surly and his ragtag group of animal friends band together to save their home, defeat the mayor, and take back the park.
