I like listening to music while I work. I’m probably not unique in that. But until recently I haven’t been a big fan of earbud headphones. I was always content with the big ear covering headphones that really made me feel like I was shutting everything else out. Bulky or not, I was set. They had the battery life and comfort and audio quality I was looking for. I say until recently because that all changed when I received the Sennheiser – MOMENTUM True Wireless Earbud Headphones.
It’s hard to imagine, or explain, how transformative these earbud headphones have been for me. Yes, I know you are sitting there thinking to yourself “they’re just headphones, get a grip”, but really, I think I am in love.
To be fair, I have used earbud headphones before. Every phone I have had in the last few years came with a pair or wired headphones (until of course they stopped coming with headphone jacks). And they did ok in certain scenarios. If I had to travel they worked OK to watch a movie or something. Subject to getting the cord tangled and getting pulled out. Or just falling out because they never seemed to fit right (and yes, I know they come with different size ear tips). Or there are my venerable full-size Bluetooth headphones. Great sound, but bulky, and after a while, uncomfortable.
So why are the MOMENTUM earbuds so awesome? Let me extol their many virtues.
To start with, they fit great. I can’t explain it. And when I say they fit right, I mean they don’t fall out. They’re comfortable. And after a bit you don’t even notice they are there. That is a big difference from other earbuds that kept falling out or my headphones that felt like they were squishing my ears after a while.
Next, they sound great. I mean they cancel out all the other noise without sounding scratchy. They sound like I’m wearing full headphones. They just plain sound amazing.
And finally, they do cool stuff. For instance, if someone walks up to talk to you, double tab on the right earbud to activate Transparent Hearing and it lets you hear what they are saying. Take out one of the earbuds and it will automatically pause your music. Or tap on the left earbud to pause your music. Tap once on the right earbud to activate voice search. Or double-tap the left earbud to make it skip to the next song. All without the need to get on your phone to do anything. Talk about cool. And the case is a very cool charger. When the case is plugged in, it charges the carrying case and the earbuds. When it is unplugged, the carrying case charges the earbuds from its own internal battery.
If I had known earbuds could be this awesome and sound this good I would have invested in some a long time ago. So long old headphones, you’re going up for sale now that I have my Sennheiser – MOMENTUM True Wireless Earbud Headphones.
