Useful tips. Internet safety is really a very important question, especially taking into account the fact that modern kids are smart enough to browse the net from early age. But it is great that nowadays there are software products which can help to ptotect kids’ safety online, even when parents are at work.

This is so scary! We need to be honest about the dangers of the internet. Maybe let them watch Web of Lies on ID. Also I don’t think kids should be on social media til they are mature enough to use it.

I used to monitor my boys on the internet and they hated my advice and think I’m crazy and overprotected. now that they are 17 and 19, it is impossible to monitor, but I still give my advice and opinions

In reply to Tania B. I agree 150%. This is something that is very important in our home as my daughter is 5 and we already feel it necessary to monitor her even when she is playing an educational game on our family iPad. It's a scary world out there. We have to protect our kids.

If I had a young (or even not-so-young) child now, I’d limit with parental controls just where they could go online. And I agree 100% about friending them on social media. I’d want to see EXACTLY what’s going on with FB & Twitter, etc. And if all else failed, I’d be sitting right next to them at the computer or tablet. Privacy? I don’t don’t care at all about privacy when safety is involved!!!
