LOVING ~ November 4, 2016

In the grand scheme of things it wasn’t that long ago. There were state laws throughout the United States that banned interracial marriage. Then along came a couple. An interracial couple. They decided that enough was enough and they should have the right to marry whoever they wanted.

Loving (coming to theaters this November) is the upcoming motion picture detailing their nine year fight, which went all the way to the supreme court, to reaffirm their right to marry.

Loving Day, which commemorates the 1967 US Supreme Court decision between the Lovings vs Virginia, which struck down all US State Laws banning interracial marriage – mainly between non-whites and whites, will be celebrated on June 12, 2016.

Join us, in collaboration with the Loving Org, to spread the word about this new petition. We, in support of millions of multiracial couples throughout the United States, hope to make the day an official Federal Day and ask for your help. See the petition for additional details and to lend YOUR support.

Then, join us on November 4, 2016 to celebrate the film release of LOVING.

From acclaimed writer/director Jeff Nichols, “Loving” celebrates the real-life courage and commitment of an interracial couple, Richard and Mildred Loving (Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga), who married and then spent the next nine years fighting for the right to live as a family in their hometown. Their civil rights case, Loving v. Virginia, went all the way to the Supreme Court, which in 1967 reaffirmed the very foundation of the right to marry – and their love story has become an inspiration to couples ever since.

Writer/Director: Jeff Nichols (“Midnight Special,” “Mud,” “Take Shelter”)

Cast: Joel Edgerton, Ruth Negga, Marton Csokas, Nick Kroll, Terri Abney, Alano Miller, Jon Bass, and Michael Shannon

What a great heartfelt idea. The closeness we once had as neighbors is gone

Heather, I am so interested in seeing this film. As you say, these events were not that long ago; it is what is called by historians 'in living memory', meaning that there are people still alive who remember it.

I will see Loving. I believe a person should have the freedom to marry whomever they want. This is 2016, not the stone age
