Everything is awesommmmme. Everything is cool when you’re part of a team. Oh wait. Wrong Lego Movie. Sorry about that. In the first Lego Movie, Batman had a small but awesome role. This time around, Batman is the star. Fitting, since it’s the Lego Batman Movie after all.
But even though this is the Lego Batman Movie, not the Lego Movie, everything is awesome, right from the opening credits. The movie opens with black, because all important movies begin with black. Fitting since batman wears all black. To say the movie is funny is something of an understatement. From the references to every other Batman movie (even that weird one from the 60’s) to the Joker’s need to have Batman acknowledge their “relationship.”
Now is this movie as good as the first Lego Movie? Yes. Absolutely it is. But it is different. But in a very good way. First of all, if you have anyone that is a fan of Lego, they will love this movie. Second of all, if you have anyone that is a fan of Batman, they will love this movie. Third of all, if you have anyone that is a fan of really good movies that are funny in a way that includes adults and children, they will love this movie.
I mean, it has action, it has adventure, it has a love interest, it has some deep relationship stuff. Granted that relationship stuff is between a psychotic super-villain and a loner super hero dealing with abandonment issues, but still, its relationship stuff.
So if you want a fun, kid-friendly (duh, it IS a Lego movie) time that will entertain you as well (trust me, there are plenty of hidden adult jokes) then go see Lego Batman now. For some awesome trailers and more, check out the official website.
Disclaimer:We were provided with early access to a press screening of the movie, however all opinions are my own.
