It was early April, on a Friday night, and I was discussing with my husband what a week it had been. As we were talking I was mindlessly messing around on my phone, like I often do, when suddenly an email notification came in. I caught glimpse of Disney Invites You and suddenly my phone had more attention than my husband
“Erik, is it April Fools?”
“No, that was Wednesday.”
“Are you sure?”
“You’re on your phone, Heather. Look at the date.”
I skipped looking for the date and went straight to the email that was actually titled Disney Invites You to Los Angeles!
To make a long story short, from May 6th to May 8th I will be joining 24 other bloggers on a journey to Los Angeles in celebration of everything Tomorrowland and I hope that you will join us. Pst, you can do this by following us on social media through the hashtag, #TomorrowlandEvent. Did I mention that I have NEVER been to California?
THE EVENT
“What if there was a place, a secret place where nothing was impossible? A miraculous place where you could actually change the world- wanna go?”
Now, I know that this is going to come as a shocker to you but since this is a celebration of everything Tomorrowland, the event kicks off with a private viewing of Tomorrowland. Unfortunately cameras are not permitted but you can catch a glimpse of what is in store at the theater by checking out the preview below.
Tomorrowland is Disney’s riveting mystery adventure where a teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor bound by a shared destiny embark on a mission to unearth the secrets of a place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory.
After viewing the movie there is still a great deal to be learned and enjoyed. First up, we will be taking a private tour of Walt Disney Archives to learn more about Walt’s vision and the early history behind “Tomorrowland.”
Preserving our legacy is something taken very seriously at The Walt Disney Company. In fact, for more than four decades, the Walt Disney Archives has carefully safeguarded the most treasured items from Disney’s fabled history.
The Walt Disney Archives had its beginning in 1970 — while Disney was still reeling over the passing of its founder, Walt Disney. At the time, Walt’s brother and the Chairman of Board Roy O. Disney, wanted to ensure that as key imagineers and animators began to retire, their vast knowledge of Disney history was not forgotten.
What visit to Los Angeles, for a Disney preview celebration, would be complete without a visit to the happiest place on earth?
That’s right! Next up we will be heading to Disneyland!
Always curious and thinking about progress, Walt Disney created Tomorrowland as a window to the future, a place to educate and inspire guests. Tomorrowland opened as one of five original lands at Disneyland Park on July 17, 1955, and has had more attractions than any other area in the park. Today, Tomorrowland is home to attractions such as Space Mountain, a thrilling high-speed journey through outer space; Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, a 3-D motion simulated space flight with more than 50 different story combinations, and Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, an interactive adventure through the world of Buzz Lightyear. Tomorrowland Theater occasionally offers movie previews where right now guests can get a special sneak peek of “Tomorrowland” with special in-theater effects.
I am super excited that while at Disneyland we will be visiting awesome rides like “it’s a small world,” “Space Mountain,” and “Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters” to name a few. Hey! Don’t judge! We are kids too, ya know!
Hmm, did I mention there will be some #FrozenFun too? I probably didn’t because I keep forgetting to share this information with my daughter. Completely by accident of course. I mean, it isn’t like she is obsessed with everything Frozen or anything. It’s not like she would disown me if she found out I was going to indulge in everything Frozen. *sigh* I need to remember to hide the pictures from her.
“Frozen Fun” is a big hit at Disney California Adventure park, bringing guests into the story of Disney’s animated blockbuster film, “Frozen.” Anna and Elsa are receiving visitors in their elegant greeting location, “Anna and Elsa’s Royal Welcome.” Guests can sing-along at “For the First time in Forever – A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration,” where Anna, Elsa and Kristoff take part in a lively retelling of their story with popular songs from the movie. Everyone’s favorite snowman, Olaf, is ready to give a warm hug to guests of all ages. There’s a lot of “Frozen Fun” to be had, now through May 15. And Southern California residents can purchase tickets at special prices through May 20.
As though this all isn’t mind blowing enough, there will also be a press day where we get to interview talent from the movie. Specifically, the Director/Producer/Writer of Tomorrowland, Brad Bird and Producer/Writer of Tomorrowland, Damon Lindelof, Britt Robertson (“Casey Newton”), and Raffey Cassidy (“Athena”). Ummm yeah, I am going to be sitting in a room, talking to some seriously talented people, and I will be bringing the details to you all!
Hmm… I think I missed someone. I swear there were five interviews and I only mentioned four. Brad, Damon, Britt, Raffey … hmmm… oh yea, I know who I forgot to mention.
Oh yes my friend! You totally just saw that. I GET TO MEET GEORGE CLOONEY! How epic is that? I am certainly not dismissing the amazing four that I mentioned above but George Clooney!!! I have been a huge fan of his work for as long as I can remember and I just pray that I don’t pass out for forget to breathe.
You are invited to celebrate everything Tomorrowland with us as we embark on this most epic, unbelievable, adventure of a lifetime!
