Do you like to clean? I don’t. Honestly, I don’t know a lot of people that like to clean. The only person I know that likes to clean is a somewhat strange aunt that came in to town for the funeral of a relative and proceeded to clean my entire house from top to bottom. And by “clean” I mean scrubbed the daylights out of everything. It was scary how clean my house was. But then again, I’m not sure she was really enjoying herself…like I said, she was a little strange.
For the rest of us, cleaning is a chore, and chores are defined by the fact that they are something we “have” to do, not something we “want” to do. That may not stand up to the Oxford Dictionary folks, but that’s my definition.
So most folks don’t like to clean, now that I’ve beaten that horse to death what can we do about it?
For most of us there are two answers, do it ourselves or hire someone. I say most because the third option for the rest is to not clean, and that is just gross (and material for a future episode of Hoarders).
Now I don’t know about you, but the thought of trying to hire someone to come in to my house to clean is a little off-putting. Your choices tend to be limited to a friend of a friend of a friend who knows someone who does an “awesome” job. Or Craigslist…and we just won’t go there.
Fortunately there is an alternative, Homejoy. Homejoy’s website is super easy to use and provides a safe convenient way to find home cleaning professionals. They screen and background check everyone they employ. They charge reasonable rates and their website clearly lists what will get cleaned so you know what you will get. Try getting results like that off Craigslist.
