I have never been a huge fan of dentists. For starters, I have extremely sensitive teeth and it seems like every time I go to the dentist they find a problem that needs to be fixed. I don’t know about you but those “problems” are never pleasant, are often painful, and are definitely expensive. That being said, like everyone, I want beautiful teeth that are healthy. This too has been trying at times. Again, let me mention that I have sensitive teeth. I also smoked for a number of years. Yes, I know it is horrible but I quit. I am also an avid coffee drinker. I absolutely, positively LOVE coffee. Suffice to say, beautiful teeth that are healthy is a constant battle for me.

Along with the sensitive teeth, I also suffer from a bleeding disorder. We won’t go into great details but anytime I brush my teeth I bleed a bit. Anytime I floss my teeth, I bleed a lot. I brush my teeth two to three times a day but needless to say, this makes me less than enthusiastic and quite frankly reluctant to floss. The problem with not flossing is that toothbrushes are not able to reach all of the places in our mouth that they need to in order for us to maintain healthy teeth. So, what is someone like me to do?

Enter the Gurin Professional Rechargeable Water Flosser.

The Gurin has a high capacity “extra large” water tank and is a rechargeable cordless unit with rechargeable batteries. It has a large reservoir which is removable and easy to refill as well as three operating modes for varying oral care needs; soft, normal, and pulse.

I do want to note that it took me some time to become comfortable with the unit. I did manage to spray myself and my bathroom a few times before I understood that I needed to firmly close my lips around the nozzle while cleaning. I should also note that your mouth will fill up with water so you will need to spit about halfway through, at least in my case.

I keep the flosser on soft as this is the best setting for my oral care needs. I did bleed the first few times I used it but that did not shock me and it wasn’t bad enough that I stopped using it. Weeks in, I no longer bleed. While I still have some problems with my teeth, problems that a dentist is going to have to take care of, I can say that my mouth feels a lot healthier. I have no idea how to explain it in orders to provide the rhyme or reason, it just does. As someone that rarely flossed before, I now feel as though I am doing something good for my teeth instead of just brushing as hard as I can to try to remove “the ick” from my mouth.

The battery life on the flosser has been great. The water reservoir is adequate; however, I would not call it “extra large” as the company claims.

My favorite part of this product is that it allows me to feel as though I am actually properly cleaning, perhaps for the first time, my teeth between office visits with my dentist. While I don’t see my opinion of dental visits changing anytime in the near future, perhaps I will feel a bit more comfortable answering when they ask me how often I floss. That’s a start, right?

The other thing that I really like about my flosser is that it has rotating interchangeable nozzles. This means that my husband and I are both able to use the unit without sharing the same nozzle. That is a definite win in my book.

If you are thinking about trying a water flosser, I would recommend you give the Gurin Professional Rechargeable Water Flosser a try!
