Spooktacular Ideas: How to Incorporate Ghosts into Your Halloween Decorations

Halloween is the perfect time to unleash your inner ghost enthusiast and transform your home into a haunted wonderland. Ghosts, with their eerie charm, can add a spooky yet playful vibe to your Halloween decor. In this blog post, we’ll explore fun and creative ways to incorporate ghosts into your Halloween decorations that are sure to impress your guests and make your home the talk of the neighborhood.

1. Ghostly Window Silhouettes

One of the simplest yet highly effective ways to spookify your home is by creating ghostly window silhouettes. Cut out ghost shapes from white cardboard or paper and attach them to your windows. When lit from behind, these ghosts will cast eerie shadows that will send shivers down the spines of passersby.

2. Floating Ghost Balloons

Host a ghostly gathering by hanging white balloons from your ceiling, using white ribbons. Draw ghost faces on the balloons with a black marker. These floating phantoms will give your home a whimsical, spectral atmosphere.

3. DIY Ghost Garlands

Crafting your ghost garlands can be a fantastic family activity. Create a string of ghosts by cutting white fabric or paper into ghostly shapes and adding eyes and mouths with black markers. String them together to make a bewitching garland that you can hang over your fireplace or along your staircase.

4. Ghostly Lanterns

For a cozy and spooky ambiance, transform ordinary mason jars into ghostly lanterns. Paint the jars white, add ghost faces with black paint, and place LED tea lights inside. Scatter these lanterns around your porch or garden to guide your trick-or-treaters safely to your door.

5. Haunted Garden Ghosts

If you have a garden or outdoor space, consider incorporating ghostly figures into your landscape. Use white sheets or cheesecloth to drape over garden statues or create ghostly figures from chicken wire. Illuminate them with solar-powered lights to create an ethereal nighttime display.

6. Ghostly Table Settings

Elevate your Halloween dinner or party with ghost-themed table settings. Use ghost-shaped placemats, ghost-printed napkins, and ghost-shaped candles for a spectral dining experience that your guests won’t forget. *This is the perfect time to include our Ghost Rice Krispie Treats!

7. Ghostly Door Wreath

Welcome guests with a ghost-themed door wreath. Create a wreath base with white fabric or foam, and add ghost decorations, faux cobwebs, and black spiders for an extra touch of spookiness.

8. Ghostly Wall Art

Channel your inner artist and create ghost-themed wall art or paintings. Hang these around your home to set the Halloween mood and showcase your creative talents.

9. Glowing Ghosts

For a dramatic effect, place glow sticks inside white balloons to create ghostly orbs. Arrange them strategically around your home or in your yard for an eerie, glowing display that is sure to captivate.

Incorporating ghosts into your Halloween decorations can be a hauntingly good time. Whether you prefer a cute and friendly ghost or a spooky, ethereal presence, there are countless ways to get creative and transform your space into a Halloween masterpiece (ahem, stocked with Ghost Rice Krispie Treats!). Ingredients

Rice Krispie Treats:

  • 40 Large Marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  • 4 tablespoons Butter

White Chocolate Coating:

  • 2 cups white chocolate chips

Black or dark chocolate icing

Instructions

For Rice Krispies Treats
  1. Line a 9×13 pan with parchment paper, spray lightly with cooking spray.

  2. In a large microwave safe bowl, heat marshmallows and butter in 30 second increments (for about 2 to 3 minutes) until melted.

  3. Stir until smooth.

  4. Stir in Rice Krispies and stir until completely coated.

  5. Pour into prepared pan and press into an even layer. (I spray a piece of cling wrap with cooking spray and use that to press the Rice Krispies into an even layer.)

  6. Cool until set.

For White Chocolate Coating
(I like to do my chocolate in half batches, easier to deal with, so that's how my steps are written out…)
  1. Pour 1 cup of white chocolate chips and 1 teaspoon vegetable oil into a microwavable bowl, stir to coat chips with oil.

  2. Microwave 1 minute, stir. At this point you might be able to stir until chips are completely melted and smooth, or you may need to stick it back in for 20 seconds.

  3. Microwave in 20 second intervals until the chips can be stirred completely smooth. Make sure not to over heat this though, or it can ruin the chocolate.

Dipping
  1. Cut Rice Krispies into ghosts. (We use a cookie cutter to shape our treats. You are welcome to cut them freehand!)

  2. Dip Rice Krispies treat into white chocolate. Use an offset spatula (also known as a cake spatula) to make sure chocolate covers evenly.
  3. Place on wax paper to cool.

  4. Before the chocolate has set, use black writing icing to draw eyes and mouth.
