This post brought to you by Kmart. All opinions are 100% mine.
I was sitting at work the other day and realized how quickly the holiday’s are approaching. We’re already in the middle of September, before we know it our children will be dressing up and trick or treating. WOW, how quickly time passes us by. Last year I did my Christmas shopping last minute and promised myself I would wait again. It’s so much easier to start a head of the crowd.
It’s also time to start watching out for awesome sales. The holidays are right around the corner. Holiday gifts can be costly, I always try to budget my spending. Unfortunately, it hasn’t happened the last few years, something always tends to come up, and more often than not I spend more money than planned. Had I started my shopping early I would have been in a better financial place.
I remember growing up my parents always had something on layaway. It was a way for them to be sure they bought what was needed. You know those big items we often cannot afford to buy all at once. It wasn’t always Christmas gifts either. I remember we needed a new TV and my mom put one on layaway, made a few payments and brought it home. I know it helped them to budget big items in all year around, I guess they now had an obligation to make a payment, sometimes it easier to think of it that way than save money. I wonder how people can do that now, since layaway is now only seasonal at most retail stores.
I personally am a total gadget geek, yes I love anything technical; laptops, tablets, phones, iPods, iPads, camera’s, etc. Unfortunately these items are costly, I believe you get what you pay for with certain items, and gadgets and gizmo’s are one of them. Needless to say if I want a new tablet or camera, I either have to save up or use layaway. Now, why would I want to use my credit card when Kmart offers free layaway. I wouldn’t, not to mention I can use their layaway program anytime of the year. YES, Kmart offers layaway all year long, layaway service fee is waived from now until November 11, 2012, and there’s no waiting until the holiday season to take advantage of Kmart’s layaway program. You can rely on Kmart’s layaway program any time of the year.
Have you ever used a layaway program? If not, than you might want to check into store fees and minimum amounts. Once you’ve selected items to be places on layaway, more often than not you need a minim down payment, service fee, and don’t forget that you products need to be valued over a certain amount.
If you buy a product for $100, and the service fee is $5, you then make payments of $20 every 2 weeks, you will have paid $105 for something that would have only costed you $100 if you would have just bought the item. That’s just an example, sometimes service fees can be a percentage, be sure to check before you place items on layaway. It’s nice to know that if we need it, we can use Kmart’s free layaway, and even have a chance to win weekly prizes. Check out Kmart’s layaway grid:
Kmart’s Big Layaway Giveaway is awesome and offers anyone that takes part in their layaway program a chance to win prizes weekly. Now, that gift that you have been wanting can be put on layaway. To make things even better, every week until November 17, 2012, they will have a drawing. If you have put something on layaway, than they will pay off your unpaid balance of whatever you have on layaway. Kmart’s Big Layaway Giveaway will be happening in every store, and it’s free!
I will be heading over to Kmart to buy some holiday gifts, and hoping to win the Big Layaway Giveaway. I might even get mom a little something, never hurts to take care of mom every now and then. I work hard and deserve it and I am excited that I have a chance to win the giveaway. See you at Kmart!
