The Origins of the Mai Tai

The Mai Tai has a rich history that traces its origins back to the 1940s when it was first created by Victor J. “Trader Vic” Bergeron. Legend has it that he whipped up the first Mai Tai for some friends visiting from Tahiti, and upon tasting it, they exclaimed “Maita’i roa ae!” which means “out of this world” in Tahitian. Thus, the Mai Tai got its name, and its popularity spread like wildfire.

The Classic Mai Tai vs. The Frozen Twist

The classic Mai Tai is a delicious blend of rum, lime juice, orgeat syrup, and orange liqueur, garnished with a fresh mint sprig and a slice of lime. On the other hand, the Frozen Mai Tai takes this classic recipe to new heights by adding ice and blending it into a slushy, frosty treat. The result? A visually stunning and cool drink that is perfect for beating the heat.

The Perfect Ingredients

To whip up a mouthwatering Frozen Mai Tai, it’s essential to use the best ingredients. High-quality rum is the foundation of this cocktail, so opt for a premium light or gold rum. Freshly squeezed lime juice adds a tangy zing, orange and pineapple are the perfect pairing. Top it off with grenadine, pineapple chunks, and ice, and you’ve got yourself a winning combination.
