Have you been to your local Frisch’s® Big Boy® Restaurant lately? Were you shocked when you walked in the door? If your local location hasn’t undergone a major makeover be on the lookout because change is on the horizon and the new look and feel of the restaurant will leave you simply smiling.
If you recall, a few months ago we shared with you our love of Frisch’s and we celebrated the release of Frisch’s Primetime Burgers. This month, we celebrate a new look, a renewed spirit, and additions to a beloved menu as we welcome the wild west to Cincinnati with the introduction of Western Primetime™ Sandwiches!
“These sandwiches are everything you want when you think of barbecue. The sauce, onion rings and bacon give them a flavor we’re sure our customers will enjoy,” said Jason Vaughn, Frisch’s chief executive officer. “These sandwiches are a great menu addition and add to an already successful Primetime Burger lineup.”
But menu additions aren’t the only changes that Frisch’s has in store! Building on a strong established relationship with customers, the new Frisch’s aims to connect with locals that consider the restaurant home. Hmmm, HOME … my parents visited Big Boy as children, we went there as children, and now I share the tradition with my daughter; home is the perfect way to describe this local icon! So what are some of the changes that you can expect to see?
Now when you enter the new Frisch’s you will be warmly welcomed by a team member who says, “Welcome to My Frisch’s!” Big Boy will be front and center at new stores and he has a new look that aims to engage and welcome customers. There is a special area designed specifically with children in mind where they will be able to display their Frisch’s artwork for all visitors to see. And at our location, local artist, Tony Dotson even provided some of the folk art that appears on the walls. All of this and more to build on the company moto that “At Frisch’s Good Fun Happens Over Great Food Served By Friendly Faces.”
The takeout containers are changing, the uniforms are changing, and the restaurant design is changing … all of which will leave you feeling warm and cheerful. But perhaps even more important, THE MENU! By adding new flavors to an already successful lineup, I can’t help but want to spend more time at Frisch’s and we know that you will want to be there too!
Last week while celebrating the grand reopening of our store we were able to try the trio of Western Primetime Sandwiches: cheeseburger, grilled chicken, and crispy chicken. They all feature real premium cheddar cheese, three hand-breaded onion rings, hickory-smoked bacon and Frisch’s new tangy Double B Low ’n Slow barbecue sauce, made with no high fructose corn syrup, on a butter-grilled brioche bun. Did you know that the onions used in the onion rings are specially grown for Frisch’s? YES! We all learn something new every day. ;)
Before the taste testing of the sandwiches even began we were given the opportunity to try the barbecue sauce and it was absolutely amazing. I even asked if they plan on bottling it and selling it. All that the team would commit to was that the idea was still on the table. Seriously, it was delicious, I think Chef Greg sums up the experience rather nicely.
“I’m thrilled with how our new barbecue sauce has come together; it has just the right level of spice balanced by a sweetness from our blend of real honey and brown sugar that our customers are sure to enjoy,” said Chef Greg Grisanti, director of research and development for Frisch’s. “These are sandwiches our staff can be proud of because not only do they taste great; they’re made with fresh ingredients made every day in our commissary.”
So, which one is my favorite? I would have to say it will likely depend on my mood for the day. Last week it was easily the Western BBQ Primetime Burger but tonight, I have a hankering for the Western BBQ Crispy Chicken. I have to be honest in saying you can’t go wrong with any of the selections. The beef was juicy, the crispy chicken had the perfect crunch, and the grilled chicken allowed me to think (or at least pretend) that I was eating a bit healthier as I indulged in everything barbecue sauce and onion rings. Add this trio to the already successful Primetime Burger lineup of The Classic, Mushroom Swiss, and BLT and I’m thinking it’s time to head to where good fun meets great food!
I couldn’t be happier to see the changes that Frisch’s is introducing and I can’t wait to see what they think of next. We’ll be heading to Frisch’s this weekend and hope to see you there.
