Freedom Mentor Review

How-to-Be-a-Real-Estate-Investor-Book-Review-683x1024A few years ago, a friend of mine sent me a list of properties and asked me to look them over and give my opinion. After balking at the price point I asked him why he wanted to move out of state when he had just recently purchased a home. He explained he wasn’t planning on moving, he was planning on investing. I then asked him if he was crazy since the housing market had crashed. He said when it comes to real estate, investment properties are purchased when the market is up and down. He also noted that this was the one thing that he has been investing in for years.

After our conversation I was ready to buy in. I just knew that we were missing out on a huge opportunity. I explained to my husband that we HAD to get involved. He kind of nodded at me, I’m pretty sure he rolled his eyes at me, and told me that he would think about it. I started watching a popular television channel that features shows about DIY, home design, and flipping and my interest piqued. Then, I realized it was going to take money, a lot of money, to turn my dream into a reality and that was something that we simply did not have. Talk about an epic failure. Epic failure, until I was recently introduced to author, Phil Pustejovsky’s book, How to Be a Real Estate Investor.

What I really like about this book is that Phil focuses on a multitude of strategies when it comes to real estate investment. Most authors pick a topic/strategy that they are most comfortable with and sell that idea; this book is very different. I like different. I also like that there is a central theme that runs throughout the book. Phil believes that in order to be a part of this industry it is necessary to think like a real estate investor. He also notes that if you don’t think like a successful investor, you won’t be one. This stuck with me and is a thought process that can be applied to many things in our lives.

In approximately 180 pages, Phil Pustejovsky is able to share with the reader how to invest in real estate without cash or credit. He also explains how it is possible without risk or experience. Each chapter of his book is broken down into processes such as short sales, liens, and tax foreclosure. As an added bonus, each chapter contains “wisdom keys” or important summary points and “real world examples” which explain the process by providing a real life example.

I think the biggest selling point of this novel is that Phil IS a real estate investor and a successful one. His experience makes it easier to follow his guidance. In his book, he shares tactics on how to make fast cash as well as how to build wealth and he makes it sounds possible and simple. He has taken years of knowledge and research and created a simple plan that leads to a successful path. Towards the end of the book, he even helps strategize a plan for the individual reader based on their goals. Did I mention that he makes the entire process sound simple?

Overall, the book flows naturally, it is easy to understand, and it provides helpful real estate investment knowledge and tips. This is a must read for anyone that is interested in becoming involved in real estate investing. It could also prove helpful to someone in the field that is looking for a refresher or new ideas.

Being a real estate investor takes a lot of hard work and knowledge. I would definitely recommend reading Phil's book to learn the best ways to successfully invest in real estate. I love the different approaches he suggests and I agree that stepping out of the box and trying something different is usually a great approach to anything in life!

Very interesting read! I learned something I didn't know anything about. Although, I do admit that I love watching the DIY shows, as well as the house flipping and designing. I just don't think I would have the patience for it!

I've never thought about, or had the money to invest in property. If I did, this would be a good book to read.
