I’m a home body. I admit it. Nothing appeals to me more than curling up at home with my family with some yummy snacks at hand, watching a movie together or playing a board game. Now don’t get me wrong, there are nights when I enjoy making a huge dinner from scratch, with the whole family in the kitchen as we experiment with some new recipe or kitchen gadget. But if it’s Family Movie Night I don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen slaving over a stove, I want to get to the movie.
And guess what? Tyson Foods and Redbox at Walmart have teamed up to help me out. Well, not JUST me, but all of us really, with Tyson® Products Winter to Go offer. What is it? Let me fill you in. From now until April 15, 2017 when you buy any two participating Tyson, State Fair® or Jimmy Dean® products at Walmart you can get two promo codes each good for a free DVD rental at any Redbox kiosk.* To find all participating Tyson products head over to www.TysonFreeMovieNight.com.
Now for us, the choice was actually pretty simple. Mini Me is a bit of a picky eater. It’s not like she will only eat peanut butter and jelly three meals a day, but she definitely has her food preferences. Granted we aren’t going to extremes to widen her taste (sorry Andrew Zimmerman, no exotic gross food here), but we like to stick to something we know she will eat and we can feel good about, so we stopped and got a box of State Fair Corn Dogs and Tyson Honey Battered Chicken Tenders. And to kick it up a bit (we do like to spend some time in the kitchen after all), we came up with a dipping sauce for the corn dogs and a fun little chicken slider recipe (bonus, the dipping sauce goes great on the chicken sliders).
Dipping Sauce ~ We’re going to get super fancy here, so hold on to your britches.
Ingredients
- ½ cup Dijon Mustard
- ½ cup Honey
- ¼ cup Mayonnaise
Instructions
- Pour all three ingredients into a plastic container with a lid (remove the lid first) and mix them up. Then put it back in the refrigerator to chill.
I know. It’s very complicated. I told you it was super fancy.
Now on to our Chicken Sliders. Again, we’re going super fancy here. Remember, the goal is to get in and out of the kitchen so you can move on to free movie night.
Ingredients
- Tyson Honey Battered Chicken Tenders
- Slider Buns (also known as mini hamburger buns)
- Roma Tomatoes
- Lettuce
- Bacon
- Provolone Cheese
Instructions
- Slice up the tomatoes.
- Tear off some lettuce.
- Heat up the chicken tenders according to the directions.
- Layer all the ingredients on the bottom half of the bun.
- Put some Honey Dijon sauce on top.
- Put the top half of the bun on.
Whew. That was some work wasn’t it? I feel like I’m ready for Iron Chef now (the original, not the wimpy American version).
