We are excited to announce that my daughter recently moved into her BIG, big girl bed. What I mean by this is, she had graduated to a big girl bed for little girls but she is getting pretty tall so mommy and daddy decided to invest in a bed that will allow her to grow into it for years to come. I’m not sure why we didn’t think of this originally BUT now she is the proud owner of a queen size bed! Why queen? Yeah, daddy was fighting for a twin or full but mommy won the battle noting that my big girl bed was a queen. The same bed we slept in for a few years after we got married. I totally worked my magic on him … or maybe it was a guilt trip… whatever, who is counting!
As you know, anytime you get a new bed, especially a bed that doesn’t match the size of the other bed in the home, since mommy and daddy have a king, you have to buy new bedding! Knowing that this time would come, mommy got a little overly excited on Black Friday and picked up three packages of bedding. This was a great saving and they are all adorably cute but all three are flannel. That is great during the frigid temperatures of winter in Ohio but it is now April and we have hot temperatures ahead; flannel simply won’t cut it. It is also important to note that I have a “thing” about doing laundry. In other words, I love doing laundry so much that I will actually MAKE laundry if there isn’t any. We definitely needed more sheets.
Thank goodness we were asked to review a Luxury Microfiber Sheet Set from Yorkshire-Mayfair!
Yorkshire-Mayfair sheets come in a variety of colors, eleven to be exact, but our set of sheets was randomly selected by the company; we received baby blue. Unfortunately this color does not match the theme of my daughter’s room BUT we will let that slide since blue is her absolute favorite color. The Luxury Microfiber Sheet Set consists of four pieces: a flat sheet, fitted sheet, and two pillowcases.
The first thing that I noticed about the sheets when I removed them from the package for laundering was just how soft they really are. Yorkshire-Mayfair advertises their sheets as Super Silky Soft and they are right on the money. After washing and drying them, they were even that much softer. I admit that as I made my daughter’s bed up I actually took a moment to try them out. Hey, I had to write a review of the, how am I supposed to write a review if I do not test the goods? 😉
In addition to being extremely soft, I also love that these sheets have deep pockets and fit up to a 14” mattress. As an owner and fan of pillow top mattresses, I can attest to the fact that this did not present a problem with our new sheets. As an added bonus, every part of the set is actually larger than I have found with the products competitors. What that means is, in addition to the fitted sheet fitting the mattress perfectly, the flat sheet actually covers the entire bed with extra. Have you ever had to battle your spouse or child for blankets? Yeah, every inch of fabric counts. As for the pillowcases, they are larger than I had anticipated them being. I can’t tell you the number of times I have put a pillowcase on and part of the pillow is still sticking out the end. Yeah, not pretty, and rather annoying! Everything fits, everything is big enough, and we love it!
If I had one complaint about this set of sheets it is that the packaging doesn’t actually indicate the color or size of the set. Obviously I was able to tell that they are baby blue; however, if one of the company’s customers was colorblind that may be a factor. Also, I would hate to pull a set of sheets out, get them all unfolded, and washed up before I realized they were not the right size. This is something that I believe can be corrected easily and should be.
This one snafu aside, if you haven’t figured it out, I can’t say enough good things about our new Yorkshire-Mayfair sheets … we absolutely love them and recommend them to anyone that may or even may not be in the market for a new sheet set of their own!
