Summer invites us to spend more time outdoors as we partake in cookouts, pool parties, and playtime in the park, camping with adventures in the woods, and more. It’s the perfect time to become better acquainted with fragrances that awaken our senses while becoming one with nature.
While these activities add fun and excitement to the summer months, they are tasks that we need to add to an already busy schedule and that can result in additional stress. I always feel as though our calendar during the schoolyear is stretched to the max but then the summer comes and I come to realize how blessed we were to have such a structured calendar. Now, in addition to juggling our daily schedules, we also have to plan daily activities for our daughter to keep her busy, entertained, and taken care of during the day.
All of this, at least in our home, leads to the shifting of schedules, additional stress, and the removal of unnecessary tasks/functions. Normally that is the private time that I have built into the day for me. After losing time to work out, take a walk, read a book, or just take a timeout to breathe I realized that I was becoming stressed out much faster and easier and knew that I had to add something back in and that is where my Nature’s Bounty ® come into play.
When time permits, I take a relaxing bath. I light a few candles, turn on soft music or pick up a good book, add to my , and run a hot bath. Then I soak while breathing in scents that tend to calm, sooth, and comfort. My go to oils are , , , or one of my all-time favorites, .
If time is a bit more limited, I try to factor a hot shower into my evening so I get a bit of time to relax, release, and rejuvenate. I normally run to the bathroom while making dinner and start my before pulling the door closed and creating my own sanctuary. Depending on my mood I’ll go to my old and trustworthy oils (as mentioned above) or I will use oils that will stimulate or refresh my senses; Grapefruit, Peppermint, or Lemongrass. Then, when I turn on the hot water for my shower, the scent mixes with the steam and creates a great spa-like environment for the 20 minutes or so that I allow myself away from the family.
In a pinch, no worries … an Aromatherapy Facial Mask may be the best way to go! There are many DIY Facial Masks that call for clays, avocados, raw honey, and more. All you need is a base oil and the essential oil(s) of your choice.
