The Good the Bad and the Bugly. No it’s not a misspelled Client Eastwood movie. It’s a new concept in connecting dads and kids. What is it? It’s putting together a bug house. Building a spider web between the legs of a table with tape and then trying to crawl through. It’s putting on a bug mask and crawling around the house on all fours looking for bugs (or outside looking under rocks when it’s a little warmer). Whacking plastic bugs on the floor with a newspaper. And finally (well not finally, because there’s a lot more in between) cooking up some bug themed food.
So really…what is it? It’s a Cooper Kit from Cooper & Kid. It’s a new way for fathers to connect with their kids in an age where most dads want to be a little more engaged than Ward Cleaver. Every three months a fun box arrives. The shipping box itself is even part of the activities provided. When you open it up it has an activity book with instructions on everything your hubby can do with your kids. The box contains almost all the raw materials you need, you just need to provide things like glue and scissors and screwdrivers when appropriate.
And don’t worry if you don’t like bugs. It’s not all about bugs. Feel like going on a hike and exploring nature, there is a wilderness walkabout kit. Are you into magic? Or are your kids? Let’s face it, kids love magic? There is a kit exploring the science behind magic. Have an aspiring pilot or astronaut? See How Things Fly. And the fun doesn’t stop with the box. There are additional digital resources to continue the learning and fun. I don’t know that the Cooper Kit will really make dads cooler than moms, because let’s face it, moms rock, but it will definitely edge them up from Ward Cleaver.
