#BugOut – Scariest and Deadliest Bugs in the World! #sponsored

by Jenn

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Orkin Ecologist. All opinions are 100% mine.

BUGS, EEK!  They freak me out! I cannot think of one bug that doesn’t make me run!  Those creepy, crawly creatures are feared by many, but the people at Orkin study them.  Lucky for us, people like my oldest daughter like bugs, and want to learn more about them!

While over on the Orkin website I was reading an article about scariest and deadliest bugs in the world.  With the millions of flying, swarming, crawling buggies in the world it’s important to know which ones can hurt us.  Many of them are harmless, scary, but harmless.  However, it’s important we learn which bugs can hurt us, or deadly in some cases.  I don’t know about you, but it’s worth learning more about bugs!  If something was to happen, as a mom I want to know how I should react to a bug bite, or sting.

want to know how I should react to a bug bite, or sting.

There are a lot of bugs that we need to know about, many of them don’t live in the United States, but plenty do.  While visiting the Orkin website I learned about both deadly and non-deadly bugs.

Non-Deadly, BUT Scary Bugs I Fear Most

The Giant Water Bug, located in the US, Canada, South America, and Asia are often referred to as toe bitters.  They got this name because of the painful bit they have because some swimmers who get to close to them while in the water.

Cockroach – EEK, one of my least favorite bugs EVER!  They are just nasty, but that’s about it.  They for the most part harmless, even though they have been known to spread diseases…  I still don’t want to see one!

Bed Bugs – EEK another one I don’t like.  Sure you cannot see them, but they feed on human blood while we sleep!  They leave bites and rashes on the skin, breed fast, and are hard to get rid of.  I say get a new bed!

Deadly Bug That I Feat Most!

Black Widow – We know this spider is deadly! If you see a black spider smash it and RUN!  Its neurotoxin affects the nervous system and can kill a person.  Seek medical attention right!

Even though I am super-duper scared of bugs, I did find the Orkin Ecologist site a fantastic educational resource for both novice and experienced science lovers!  Oh, and my daughter Catie loves visiting their website.  She said she has shown some of the boys at school the website just to freak them out, lol.  Girl Power!

Be sure to “Like” Orkin Ecologist on Facebook, and Follow them via Pinterest.  You can even share something with them by using the hashtag #BugOut!

What’s your scariest bug moment?  I can honestly say, EVERY bug I come in contact with is a scary moment!  My oldest daughter, Catie the bug lover thinks I am over reacting.  I am in no way over reacting, bugs scare me!  Even the nice, but scary bugs make me itch like I have a bug on me.

Do you have favorite bug, or are you like me – dislike all bugs?  If you are like me, my youngest daughter and I have created a “scared of bug club”, and would love for you to join.  We even have a secret handshake, lol.

Be sure to go and learn about the scariest and deadliest bugs in the world.

My scariest bug moment was finding what looked like a tarantula in a box out in the garage when I was packing up thongs to move. It was huge! My least favorite bugs to see in the house are ants, because if there's one, there's a thousand. Just found them in my freezer of all places. Needless to say, they didn't get very far.

Last summer we had an infestation of black widow spiders. You couldn't walk out the door without seeing them everywhere! I went through a lot of bug spray!

I dont like chrunchy bugs, thats what I call them. The ones that crunch when stepped on or hit. Those are usually the big oversized beetles. And if they can fly they uaually come after me.

Oh, YUCK! If there's something in this world I HATE and FEAR, it is bugs , especially spiders. I used to live in Nevada, and we had tarantulas. OMG!

This summer has been absolutely terrible for my son. Mosquitos have literally overwhelmed us this year. My son is also allergic to them. We are going to try something new next year. PLENTY OF BUG SPRAY

I have to agree with you on Bedbugs! They are super gross and scary! I worked for a college and I know how awful they can be. We had a room with over 10,000 of them and I almost died of disgust! So gross! Swallow Bugs and Bat Bugs are also gross. . .and look very similar to bed bugs!

Thankfully, I do not have any of the crazy stories that other commenters have. We did have some carpenters ants when we moved into our new house last March. If I ever see a Black Widow spider I will freak out!

I was in Australia at the beginning of the year, where they have the majority of the most poisonous animals/bugs. A friend showed me a photo of a spider she found in her car - I am not kidding when I say it was a lot larger than my hand. Me, I'm scared of spiders, stupid I know but there it is.

I grew up in Colorado where we don't have many bugs. I moved to San Antonio and was dive bombed by a huge flying cockroach. Bleh!

I have never seen a tarantula in person and I really hope I never do, that has got to be my least favorite creepy crawly.

My scariest Bug-Out Moment was when I was younger, and went Golfing (riding in the cart) with my Dad out in the middle of nowhere, I was drinking a Coke and a Bee got into the can and stung me in my Mouth, and my Dad was all freaked out because if it stings you on your Tongue it can swell up and cause you to suffocate, so in turn I am still scared of Bee's and Wasp to this day, I have even abandoned my Car at an intersection with my Kid's inside (sorry Kids) when a Wasp flew inside.

(#BUGOUT – SCARIEST AND DEADLIEST BUGS IN THE WORLD! #SPONSORED) I am not a real big fan of those pesky spiders, all's they do is make a ton of messes with leaving their webs all over the walls every fall.

that was very informative. I didn't know that water bugs actually bit people. I was always afraid of being bit by one and was told they didn't bite, but I never believed them.

I hate all bugs except maybe ladybugs! I just saw a gross bug in the basement while doing the laundry today. Some kind of cross between an earwig and some kind of stick like bug! I smooshed it! I don't think I have seen a black widow spider and I don't want to!

Why do people always say don't move when there's a bee? I automatically jump. One of my worst bug encounters was with a fuzzy caterpillar. Somehow it got on my neck. I went to brush it off and immediately felt like thousands of hot needles were poking me. I had a terrible rash and the pain went on for days.

If you want to see a scary bug you should google Wetas and Giant Cave Wetas! They are natives here in New Zealand and I am terrified of them.Even the dead ones at the museum make me so scared that I will vomit! When you see them you will know why.I have found them on my washing when it is hanging on the line outside and I scream and my children have to remove them. I think it is just a visual thing as they will not attack unless seriously threatened and can be handled if you are gentle.

Hate bugs, Hate flies, I think they are the dirtiest bug there is and hate them when one gets in my house. Just think of all the places you see them, than they land on you or your food. Well I don't know about you I'm done, can't eat it.

Oh bugs. I fear some, hate others and wanna kill the rest! We're having an ant problem now due to rainy season and I wanna stab everyone of them. LOL. That said, anything that squirms in turn make me squirm. Can't even say their names. My insides are churning.

I saw a robin two days ago. Spring is on the way and that means bugs. I spray them or step on them.

I can't stand the thought of some bugs either! When I lived in South Florida, it was common to see some of the largest spiders, etc. that I've ever seen! OMG... just the thought of them crawling on me gives me the shivers. Living in Ohio, we have some nasty looking spiders and I'm not certain if it was a spider that bit me last summer, but something sent me to the emergency room with severe hives and difficulty breathing. I HATE spiders!!

I am not afraid of all bugs and I think it is great to teach children from a young age to identify poisonous creatures.

Cockroaches gross me out. When we first moved to this state we didn't have jobs. Long story. Anyways, we had to stay in a one room cottage for a few months until we could rent an apartment. There were so many roaches. I totally had to bomb the place. I got rid of them. I hope to never see another one as long as I live!
