It’s that time of year again. No, not back to school. Well, it is back to school time, but I’m not talking about that. It’s Bonefish Grill time. And this time around we are supporting a good cause too. What is a better cause than eating some delicious fish? The Nature Conservancy and their Plant a Million Corals initiative, that’s what. Coral reefs are one of the most threatened marine ecosystems and this year is the International Year of the Reef. The Nature Conservancy is working to plant a million corals in Florida and the Caribbean by 2025 to help restore this vital natural resource. By coming in to Bonefish and ordering a Coral Reef Punch you are helping to raise awareness of this effort. And the Coral Reef Punch is yummy to boot.
So, on to the food. Of course, we ordered a Coral Reef Punch. This was a perfect mix of two rums, vanilla bean simple syrup and fruit juices that combine to make a delicious and refreshing cocktail. We bypassed the Bang-Bang Shrimp this time around for the Shrimp Caprese Dip, a creamy blend of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese layered with roasted shrimp and tomatoes. Dip some bread in it and you having one amazing appetizer.
For our entrees we picked two right off the special menu: the Spinach Bacon Blue Cobia and the Wild Alaskan Salmon and Shrimp. The salmon was almost a no-brainer. I mean, salmon, covered with a creamy Parmesan artichoke topping and three jumbo shrimp. One word: YUMMMMM. And don’t tell me YUMMMMM is not a word.
We were a little more hesitant about the Cobia. Having never even heard of it before, we weren’t sure what it would be like. We were not disappointed. The fish itself tasted wonderful and anytime you top something that good with spinach, bacon and bleu cheese it just takes it over the top.
To finish the night off, of course we had to order dessert. The Macadamia Nut Brownie and Jen’s Jamaican Coconut Pie never disappoint.
So if you are looking for a fun night out, with a refreshing cocktail, wonderful food, and fabulous desserts, check out Bonefish Grill. And you can help a good cause that is helping to preserve a natural resource for the future. What more do you need?
