Being A Mom Doesn’t Have To Limit Your Swimwear Options

by Heather

The fashion industry has made shopping for swimsuits a difficult and frustrating experience. Most stores carry sizes that are too small for the average shopper, and usually do not offer a range of options in terms of coverage in their swimwear. Although many stores have caught on to the fact that more women than not are ‘plus-size’ finding the ‘right fit’ is still a challenge, especially at affordable prices. To make things worse, this challenge is especially frustrating when it comes to shopping in traditional department stores that carry a limited selection for a short period of the year.

While these sentiments are true for the average woman, it can be especially difficult for mothers. The reality of biology is that having children will change things physically, emotionally, and financially! If you are planning a spring getaway or are just suiting up for the summer, spending hundreds on swimwear may no longer be a viable option for your style or your wallet. However, there is no reason not to embrace the change and bring sexy back!

There are now online retailers that specialize in just about everything, and ‘plus sized’ swimwear is certainly one of them. Such retailers have a significant advantage over regular department stores. Shopping from the comfort of a couch, in front of the TV, with a cup of coffee/tea can be a very rewarding experience in itself, plus with a little one running around, who has time to go to a department store and hunt for options (plus managing your little one in a change room isn’t fun). Moreover, department stores don’t have a lot of options in terms of style or size. Shopping online allows consumers to narrow their search to find only the items in which they’re interested. Lastly, online shops make returns much easier than physically going to the store or mall. In many cases, the retailer will offer free return shipping in exchange for store credit. This makes finding the swimsuit a breeze, and affordable.

There are many swimsuit styles available on the market (especially online) that didn’t use to exist. One-pieces are now stylish and form flattering, available in a wide variety of colors and patterns. Tankinis are an especially hot new trend, offering coverage and flexibility while playing up your features and downplaying problem areas. This swimsuit style offers coverage without sacrificing fashion. It is similar to a camisole tank top with a fitted bust and empire waist. This style is excellent for quick vacation swimsuit shopping because it isn’t too revealing while remaining in-season, making it a flattering and trendy swimsuit for any occasion and the plus-size body type.

Tankini

Shopping for swimsuits online hasn’t always been as easy as it is today. And since the invention of the tankini, choosing the right swimsuit style has never been simpler, more affordable, or more flattering. Purchasing from a standard department store is, and will always be, a hassle. With holidays and vacations right around every corner, make swimwear shopping a no brainer by going online. There is one company in particular that has gained a lot of attention not only for their swimwear options, but also for their efforts to change society’s view of sex appeal and form. This article about the online retailer swimsuitsforall explains their efforts to make women of all sizes feel sexy, and you can even join the conversation through in their social movement, #CurvesInBikinis. Stop by swimsuitsforall.com/Swimdress-Swimwear-D4 to see some of the many new swimwear styles they have to offer that will help you look great and let you spend more money on what really matters. No matter what you thought that plus sized swimwear should look like, they’ll prove that any size or shape can be sexy!

I have never ordered a bathing suit online. I look at them online and I think about ordering one that I like, but in the end I don't. It's just one of those items that I feel need to be tried on first. They all fit differently. They never look the same on me as they do on the models or in the picture. I do hate that department stores have such a crappy selection, as you mentioned. I always seem to wait till the last minute and everything is already picked over. Despite that, somehow I have managed to collect more bathing suits than I thought was humanly possible! Lol. I have a ton!

Being a mom doesn't limit. But, take a good look at all angles. Once you have kids, things don't always bounce back to the way it used to be. I don't know if most women are plus sized. If they are, they eat too much. Unless, there's a medical issue.

I clicked on the link and looked at all the suits. They have so many sizes - more than some of the retail stores. I agree with the comment above regarding trying on the swim suit first before buying. I will have to read SWIMSUITS FOR ALL'S return policy. The suits do look really nice on the models!!

I have seen some online I liked but went out to try some on in the stores and it seems like the sizes vary so not so easy to know what I would buy from a website but was happy with what I found in the stores.

I like modest swim wear. As you age, skin doesn't bounce back like it used to.

Thanks so much for the Fantastic Review on Being A Mom Doesn’t Have To Limit Your Swimwear Options! WOW! I know it's hard to find a swimsuit, especially in the department stores! I've had the same one for so many, many years now. Through my ups and downs in weight, I've worn the same suit! I only go into the hot tub out on the deck with it anyway! I love that now there are more online stores that carry plus size swim suits for a change! It's like no one realizes that women come in different shapes and sizes and there is more than the perfect figure! Thanks so much for the Fantastic Review, the picture and your personal and professional opinions on Being A Mom Doesn’t Have To Limit Your Swimwear Options with all of us! You know I always appreciate your reviews!!! Thanks again! Michele :)

I don't think being a mom has anything to do with it. It's a persons body that does. I can't stand people wearing a swimsuit, or clothing that's ill fitting.

I live in a tiny village, the nearest town is 40 miles away and the nearest city over a 100 so online shopping is a godsend. I love eBay!

Age isn't a factor to me. Just dress for your body size and shape. Bathing suit or clothing. I don't think rolls and lumps showing is an attractive sight.

I hate swimsuits because I have a bit of a belly. Forget bikinis can't wear them at all. I like to find vintage style bathing suits if I can find them. I like the old style look with the halter plus my midsection is covered.
