I’ve said before that I’m not the comic book lover in the family. That’s the hubby. But when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe I am a definite fan. Let’s face it. Chris Hemsworth. Chris Pratt. Chris Evans. Sebastian Stan. Robert Downey Jr. Chadwick Boseman. Tom Hiddleston (is he like the BEST Bad Guy or what?). All great reasons to love the Avengers and the MCU.
But really it is more than that. They have spent 10 years tying together a story, one tiny piece at a time, starting all the way back with the first Iron Man film. And that is all coming to a head with the release of Avengers: Infinity War. Featuring almost every single hero (I won’t tell you which two are missing) that has appeared in the films, this movie is so jam-packed with stars it would put the Academy Awards to shame. Ok, so maybe there are a few less than the Academy Awards.
In case you live in another universe, here’s a brief rundown. Thanos (he’s the bad guy) is out to collect the Infinity Stones. Those are the mysterious little gems that have been seen in various forms throughout many of the MCU Films. If you want to know why Thanos wants them, you will have to see the movie (after all, #ThanosDemandsYourSilence), but let’s just say it isn’t to make the universe’s chewiest brownies or knit a warm fuzzy blanket for everyone in the universe. When Bruce Banner informs Dr. Strange about what’s coming, Earth’s mightiest heroes gather to try and stop Thanos’ plan. If you want to know whether they succeed or not you will have to see the movie.
Now, I’m not going to say whether I loved the movie or not. Let’s be clear, the title of the movie has the word “war” in it. Things happen in war. I’m not going to say who those things happened to, but those things did make me sad. It wasn’t graphic in that sense, but it may be too much for some younger viewers. Other than that, it was a very good movie, with a lot of action, a lot of humor and plenty of real drama and emotion. So, go see it, you won’t be disappointed. And then go buy tickets to go see it again, because I guarantee there will be things you missed. Or need to clarify. Or just want to see again. I know I’m going to see it again this weekend.
