It has been termed the ‘Eternal City’ and it is easy to see why. It is Europe’s most ancient centre. The city itself is over 3000 years old. For many, this is astounding. The city remains intact and perfect. In short, it is a glorious ancient city to behold.

There are many ancient Roman sites that you can visit. Experiencing the history up close, and personal is one of the biggest advantages of visiting this city. The Coliseum is amazing. It is a true feat of the time period in which it was built. The Sistine Chapel is nothing short of astounding. The perfect art features, and delicate adornments within the chapel are gorgeous. You can see the ancient art in all of its glory within the confines of this chapel. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t want to see Michelangelo’s most-famous work in the flesh.  The Trevi Fountain is a popular place for tourists as well.

The image is carved into marble, in exquisite detail. The Bocca Della Verita is another test of how Rome has withstood the effects of time. No city in the world is quite like Rome. Its ancient past is prevalent for all to see. But, with a good mix of modernity, this city is unlike anywhere else. The ancient and the modern collide. It is nothing short of superb.

If you are snap happy, you will love Rome. It has everything. You will be spoiled for certain.

Eat, Drink and Be Merry

One of the greatest things about Italy is its cuisine. Everyone loves pizza and pasta! However, this is a lot more to Italy than carbs. Indulge in glorious coffees. With not a Starbucks in sight, you will love experiencing the real taste of coffee. This is not a “bean to cup” affair. This a master class in coffee culture.

Gelato is a firm favorite with all. This creamy, delicate ice-cream is not for those who are dieting. But, seeing as you are on vacation you should treat yourself to a small one at least. Pizza, of course, is prevalent. But, it is not like pizza you have eaten anywhere else. At the risk of sounding like a Marks and Spencer’s advert, pizza in Italy is not just pizza. It is Italian pizza. Wine is a staple. Understandably so, vineyards are dotted all over the country. A good red wine is a must. You need to sample all of the fare in Italy to truly appreciate how delicious the food is.

It’s not like eating at home. It is much better. The food fresh is delightful on the palate. Ditch the diet and eat your way round Rome.

Where to Stay

As with any city you are spoiled for choice when it comes to accommodations. You can choose to stay in opulent hotels, or cater for yourself in apartments. The choice afforded to you is phenomenal. With such amazing food on offer throughout the city, no one likes to be tied to the hotel. Vacation apartments come in all shapes and sizes. Think about the size of the group that you are going away with. This will ultimately depend on what size vacation apartment that you choose. If you are traveling in a group of friends, there are large four bedroom apartments that you can seek out. For couples, a cozy one bedroom affair is all you will need. What is more, you will have all of the mod cons that you need to live comfortable in Rome for the length of your stay. All apartments come with kitchens and bathrooms. Climate: The Best Time to Visit Rome

The great thing about Italy and Rome in particular is that it boasts an amazing climate. It is typical of Mediterranean weather. This means that you can have long, balmy summers within Rome. The city itself can be quite hot. But, if you are a fan of hot climates and bustling summer days, Rome is the perfect destination for you.

Summer ranges from June to September. During this time, the heat can be stifling. Inching into 30 degrees (86 degrees Fahrenheit)  is the norm. But, due to the city location, it can seem more humid. For those who like to travel in more moderate temperatures, April and October are more pleasant months to visit Rome. Lows of around 16 degrees (61 degrees Fahrenheit) are promising. Rome does not entirely suffer from inclement weather.
