I had a gastric bypass three years ago and I have been struggling with hair loss ever since. Now, I want to point out that this was one of the potential side effects that I was warned about but I didn’t think much of it at the time because I have extremely thick hair. Three years later, here I am still losing hair. Let me note that I’m not losing hair at an alarming rate but the amount that comes out in the shower is a bit disheartening. Then, the unthinkable happened. I was at work one day and a coworker was staring at my hair. I asked her what was wrong and she said it looked like I have a small bald spot coming in. Of course I have pointed it out and asked everyone and their cousin if they agree, nobody does or at least they won’t admit it, but I can’t think of a single female that wants to worry about losing hair or balding.
So what have I done to battle the problem? Well, at one point I took a supplement that was supposed to support hair health and growth. Unfortunately, I was allergic to it. I checked out shampoos and conditioners that are supposed to provide the same benefits … WOW! Needless to say, I haven’t done much but watch the hair fall out and wash down the drain.
Then, something great happened. I was contacted about reviewing the Amplixin Hair Loss Support System.
First, let’s look at their Amplixin Shampoo with Caffeine & Red Clover
The Shampoo sets out to act as a cleanser and moisturizer. It contains ingredients like Caffeine, Red Clover, and Biomimetic Peptides that work to stimulate thicker, fuller hair after the first use. It is designed to provide the necessary nutrients and hair vitamins that aid in preventing hair loss and promoting new hair growth.
I have to admit that the first time I used this product I did a double take and read the bottle not once but twice to make sure I wasn’t using a product that promotes hair loss. The amount of hair that I lost was rather frightening. On the other hand, what I did notice after using this product is how healthy my hair felt and looked. It doesn’t feel weighed down, it has a beautiful shine, and it looks and feels silky soft.
I can’t say that I am a huge fan of the smell of the shampoo; however, I am kind of “girlie girl” when it comes to my haircare products and tend to lean towards sweeter smells. The shampoo lathers nicely; however, the lather goes away rather quickly. I assume this is because it is soaking into the hair so it can get to work. You leave the product in for 3 to 5 minutes and then rinse.
My one pet peeve is that the bottle states that you should use a fair amount; however, that is a double edged sword. As someone with thicker, longer hair, I imagine that I use more shampoo that someone who has thinner, shorter hair. My thicker, longer hair and a bottle that directs one to use a fair amount means that I am going through some serious shampoo each time I shower. This is an 8 oz bottle so what that means is after a week, I am about halfway through the bottle.
I can’t say that I have noticed a change as far as hair regrowth is concerned but with my hair, I am not 100% certain that I would be able to tell at this stage in the game. I would imagine it takes longer than one week of use to really notice a difference.
I would love for the shampoo to smell a bit nicer and for the bottle to be a lot bigger. For a product that will likely only last me 2 weeks, $37.98 seems a bit high. At the rate that I am going, that would mean $76 a month for shampoo alone.
Second, the Amplixin Revitalizing Hair Conditioner
To achieve the best results, it is recommended that Amplixin Revitalizing Hair Conditioner be used in conjunction with Amplixin Shampoo with Caffeine & Red Clover. In my opinion, the key to this product is the argan oil that works to aid my color damaged hair while promoting nature hair growth. This conditioner was developed specifically to help strengthen and restore weak, damaged follicles, and repair chemically overly-processed roots. The main ingredients in this product are Caffeine, Red Clover, and Biomimetic Peptides.
What can I say, I love the conditioner. The smell is a little nicer but again, it would not be my preference as I prefer sweet. There is no lather to the conditioner but I don’t think that is a bad thing. What I love most about this product is how amazingly healthy my hair feels since I started using Amplixin a week ago. I was just coming off a really bad run with haircare products after I tried a new shampoo and conditioner that left my hair looking and feeling gunky. This was a true lifesaver.
As I mentioned with the shampoo, it has been one week of use. The difference between the shampoo and conditioner is that I have completely exhausted my supply of conditioner in just one week. That is rather disheartening. The bottle of conditioner is only 8 oz so I am not surprised it is already gone, I am just not happy about it. I would have liked to have seen the results after two to three weeks of continued use but that simply isn’t possible.
As with the shampoo, I would love for the conditioner to have a nicer smell but even more importantly, I would like a much larger bottle. For a product that only lasts me one week, $35 is really steep. That is $140 a month for conditioner and unfortunately, my budget will not accommodate that cost.
Overall
I really like the Amplixin Hair Loss System I just don’t think it is affordable. I assume the price point is due to the ingredients and the purpose behind the product; however, I find it difficult to believe there are many people with $140 in their monthly budget for conditioner.
Again, I would recommend that the company revisit the bottle size of the product being sold and take a look at the cost of the product. I would love it if the scent was a bit nicer but my hair looking amazing is a decent exchange. I wish I could have used this product for 2 to 3 weeks to provide a more accurate review but unfortunately, once the product is gone … it is gone.
