The original NES. The NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM. Do you remember when that came out? I do. I spent countless hours playing Super Mario and Duck Hunt and Zelda and Metroid. If you owned a Nintendo (and who didn’t, other than my husband) then 8-Bit Christmas is a movie you are going to love. Even if you didn’t own a Nintendo, you will love this movie.

8-Bit Christmas tells the story of Jake Doyle’s quest to get a NES in the face of overwhelming opposition from his parents. Coming up with various schemes and plans and dealing with a bully in the process. Told as a series of flashbacks from an adult Jack Doyle to his daughter, 8-Bit Christmas immediately takes me back to my youth with all the nostalgia I could hope for. AND it’s hilarious. And heartwarming. And Funny. Quite frankly, I love just about everything Neil Patrick Harris is in and this is no exception. Steve Zahn is also perfect as Jake’s father doing the perpetual home remodel.

8-Bit Christmas is slightly reminiscent of another movie that revolves around the quest for a BB-gun, but 8-Bit Christmas is much more relatable to my generation. If you are looking for a pure, unadulterated, fun, heartwarming Christmas movie without a hint of cynicism, then you need to see 8-Bit Christmas. It will put you in the Christmas mood.

About 8-BIT CHRISTMAS

A humorous and heartfelt look back at the adventures of childhood. Set in suburban Chicago in the late 1980s, the story centers on ten-year-old Jake Doyle’s (Fegley) herculean quest to get the latest and greatest video game system for Christmas.

Thanks to Warner Bros. Pictures, I also had the opportunity to participate in an EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW with 8-BIT CHRISTMAS stars Neil Patrick Harris, Winslow Fegley. June Diane Raphael, and Steve Zahn.

THANK YOU Warner Bros. Pictures!

Now, I don’t want to upset anyone but unfortunately, we ran out of time and I wasn’t able to ask Neil Patrick Harris or Winslow Fegley a question. I know it’s really sad. I may have shed a tear BUT Neil Patrick Harris says my name and that’s pretty cool!

Nonetheless, the interview was so much fun, check it out below.

I did get to ask June Diane Raphael and Steve Zahn a question. See how they answered my questions about the 80s vs. now below!
