Spring is just around the corner. Spring is a great time to get in some good habits for your kids. The temperature is going up, kids are going to be spending more time outside getting fresh air after being cooped up during the winter. So now is the time to make sure they are as healthy as possible. So here are a few simple tips to help them along.
Water
Encourage your kids to drink as much water as possible. Better than soda. Better than juice. Better than just about anything. Get them into the habit of drinking plenty of water. It prevents them from getting dehydrated and builds a habit that every adult should have. Water also doesn’t have all the chemicals and sugar that is in juice and soda. If they aren’t super enthusiastic, try a little flavoring
Vitamins
In our world of processed food, your kids are probably not getting all the vitamins and minerals they need. So, get them started on a kid’s vitamin. Now, if your kid is anything like mine, they hate pills (almost worse than pilling a cat). So, a lot of us turned to gummies. But gummies have a ton of sugar. So how about a dissolving vitamin that is easy for kids to take without all the sugar, like Superior Source Clean Melts.
Veggies
Speaking of processed foods, what is orange and crunchy and kids love? If you said Cheetos, you’re wrong. Lots of kids love carrots. Lots of kids love crunchy vegetables in general. Cooked squishy broccoli? Yuck. A crunchy piece of broccoli dipped in a little bit of ranch; my kids love it. Carrots? Celery? Yellow or red bell peppers? It’s all in the presentation. Your kids may love vegetables, they just don’t know because they are used to one presentation of overcooked veggies at dinner. If it’s edible raw, give it a try.

Exercise
I’m not talking about taking your 8-year-old to the gym. Hide the power cord to the game system and pretend it’s broken. Kick them outside and lock the door. Get them outside in some way every day. They will find a way to entertain themselves and get a “workout” in. Just make sure the power tools and gasoline are locked up.

Sleep
People need sleep. Kids need sleep. Period. Make a bedtime and stick to it. Trust me, you will regret it if you don’t. Sleep is a KEY to keeping kids healthy
